A bearded axe, or Skeggøx (from Old Norse Skegg, "beard", and øx, "axe"), is any of various axes, used as a tool and weapon, as early as the 6th century AD. It is most commonly associated with Viking Age Scandinavians.

Contemporary illustrations indicate that they had a shaft measuring over 1 metre and were probably wielded with both hands. This type of axe is known as “the Danish axe”, or “Dane axe”, which reflects its popularity amongst the Danish Vikings.

Amongst the best-known Viking axes are the Dane axe and the bearded axe. Whilst Viking axes were primarily used for combat purposes, it is known that they were also utilized for other less violent purposes. Some, for instance, were employed for ceremonial purposes, whilst others took on a more domestic function.
