Houses routinely vacant during the day. Houses that appear occupied—with the lights on, a vehicle in the driveway, visible activity, or audible noises from within—are less likely to be burglarized. 28 Even houses near occupied houses generally have a lower risk of burglary.
These marks might appear on walls, fences, or sidewalks, often small and easy to overlook. Unfamiliar Stickers or Flyers: Flyers or stickers from unknown sources, especially those that seem out of place, can sometimes be used to monitor if they're removed, indicating whether someone's home regularly.
Install motion sensor/light sensor lights. Have a garage door opener installed. Make sure you have peep holes in all entry doors. Makes sure your address numbers are visible from the street. Install a locking mailbox. Take a video of ALL property in your home and note serial numbers.
In speaking with our customers and security consultants, it's clear that most burglars head straight to a bedroom when they enter a home. If they can identify the primary bedroom, it will be their first target.

Lack of Home Security Systems
Homes without visible security systems, such as alarms or cameras, are attractive targets for burglars. Having these home security systems provides real-time monitoring and alerts and discourages burglars.
Since burglars want to look as innocent as possible, they usually try knocking on the front door before they enter. If no one answers the door, they will try to open the door to see if it is unlocked. After that, they may try breaking in through the front door or looking for a window that has been left ajar.
