Stink bugs do not bite. They do not have fangs or a stinger but instead have a sucking mouth part. They are attracted to plant matter and fruits, including the fruit from trees that drop long bean pods, rather than seeking human flesh.
Do Stink Bugs Bite? Stink bugs don't bite, and therefore, they are not typically dangerous to humans. Although harmless, these bugs can be a nuisance. Stink bugs thrive in warm temperatures and will mostly invade your house during the winter.
If a stink bug does bite, the bite may cause mild irritation, redness, or swelling, similar to a mosquito bite. However, stink bugs do produce a foul-smelling liquid as a defense mechanism when disturbed, which can be unpleasant.
There have been several reports of skin symptoms on the cheeks, neck, and proximal arm/axilla caused by stink bugs (1–3). Stink bugs excrete a substance containing 2 aldehydes from its stink glands, located on its abdomen. These 2 aldehydes, trans-2-decenal and trans-2-octenal, cause irritant contact dermatitis (3).
Brown marmorated stink bugs are not harmful to people, houses, or pets. They do not bite, sting, suck blood, or spread mammalian diseases; and they do not eat or bore into wood structures.
While uncommon, symptoms such as runny nose, tearing, itchy eyes, and skin irritation leading to dermatitis may occur. Whenever someone is exposed to a stink bug's defensive compound, it is wise to quickly use soap and water to wash the affected skin and remove the source of the ill-smelling substance.
Are stink bugs dangerous to people? These bugs rarely bite humans, and they are not known to transmit pathogens or harmful bacteria. They do, however, have a nasty chemical smell to them, which has some homeowners wondering if they may be toxic. Don't worry.
Soapy Water
Fill a wide mouth jar with soapy water (add some vinegar for extra killing power), move it into position beneath a stink bug, and most often it will drop right into the suds and drown.
Both BMSBs and kissing bugs have piercing/sucking mouthparts, but only kissing bugs bite people, pets, and other animals. Stink bugs do not bite humans or animals.

Having a stink bug under your clothing and crawling up your arm or leg is most unpleasant, particularly if you are standing in line at a store or pumping gas into your car. But they do not bite.
The best way to kill stink bugs is without crushing them because that is when they release the smell that they are notorious for. Other ways to kill stink bugs is to use pesticides, diatomaceous earth, or soapy water to drown them.
Inside, stink bugs are found hiding in cracks and crevices, usually in and around baseboards, windows, and door trims. They're also common in lights and external exhaust fans. Stink bugs enter in search of warm, heat-reflective surfaces like windows and porches.
