Empaths, like sponges, absorb other people's moods. When around peace and love, they flourish. Being around negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety, fear and depression can deplete them. Empaths are highly intuitive.
When stress from adverse or challenging events in life occur continually, you can find yourself in a state of feeling emotionally worn out and drained. This is called emotional exhaustion. For most people, emotional exhaustion tends to build up slowly over time.
Heating and cooling are by far the greatest energy users in the home, making up around 40% of your electric bill. Other big users are washers, dryers, ovens, and stoves. Electronic devices like laptops and TVs are usually pretty cheap to run, but of course, it can all add up.
Gas ovens are the biggest culprits, so if you have the option, opt for a convection or fan oven. If you get into the nitty-gritty, you'll find microwave ovens are where it's at. They use approximately 50% of the energy produced to cook your kai (food)—win.
Air Conditioning & Heating
Your HVAC system uses the most energy of any single appliance or system at 46 percent of the average U.S. home's energy consumption. Depending on the efficiency of your unit, in a 24-hour period, your HVAC could use around 28-63 kWh, resulting in about 850-1,950 kWh in a month.
Your heating, ventilation and air conditioning system likely uses the most electricity at home. The EIA tells us that space heating and cooling accounts for slightly over 30% of residential energy usage. These appliances run frequently, and many factors can affect their efficiency, like drafts and poor insulation.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, standby power accounts for as much as 5% to 10% of residential energy use, and homeowners could save $100 to $200 each year on utility bills by unplugging devices that aren't in use.
Room air cleaners are portable, electric appliances that remove fine particles, such as dust and pollen, from indoor air. A standard room air cleaner, operating continuously, uses approximately 450 kWh per year in electricity. This is more than the energy used by some new refrigerators!
Constantly Worrying
Worrying does not solve the problem. If something is out of your hands, then it's out of your hands and there is no point in worrying about it. If there is something you can do about it, then stop worrying and take action. Worrying is a waste of energy, focus on what you can control.
Energy vampires often view relationships in terms of what they can gain. They might manipulate situations to their advantage or take more from relationships than they give. Having a very unbalanced dynamic with a person can leave you feeling used and unappreciated, draining your emotional reserves.
Track your power
If you want to test how much power your appliances and devices are using in standby mode, you can buy an electricity usage monitor device. These devices allow you to plug in various tech or appliances and check how much power they're actually using, even in standby mode.
Faulty electrical wiring could cause a sudden increase in electricity consumption, or your electrical meter may be broken. If you continue to see a higher than expected electricity bill, even after taking all of the necessary steps to troubleshoot the exact cause, it may be time to call a certified electrician.
What uses electricity at night? There are two groups of appliances using electricity at night: Appliances you are using intentionally and appliances that are sucking energy while they are “off” but still plugged in. Appliances that you run intentionally at night can include: Air conditioning and fans.
Even on a good day, if you're an empath, you might feel drained or overwhelmed. Empathic overwhelm can come from energy vampires, people who energetically feed off your emotions, especially the more dramatic or intense ones.
Generally speaking those things we enjoy fill our tank and those things that bring us stress and tension tend to drain our emotional tank. Its as simple as that.
