Washing your bike or car with a bucket and sponge instead of a hose saves a lot of water. A hose can waste 6 gallons per minute if you leave it running, but using a bucket and sponge only uses a few gallons!
Alternative to a hose would be a bucket, (garden) watering can, or maybe a pump sprayer.
You could bore a small tunnel under the street (big enough for a hose to pass) using a pvc pipe with water running through it. The more water pressure you have the better. It's kind of like when you were a kid and you dug a hole in the yard with a garden hose but bigger.
Mop with Warm Water
Wring out your mop thoroughly to prevent the pooling of water. You should use a sponge or cloth to get into tight spaces. Once the water has been spread around, let it sit and soak for a few minutes so that the dirt and grime can loosen up. Use a brush or broom to sweep it all away.
Make your own hose guides from colorful wine bottles inverted over a section of rebar anchored in the ground. Or mount old decorative doorknobs onto a sturdy stake to sink into the ground. Convert an old curtain rod with decorative finial, broken golf club or leaky watering wand into a hose guide.
Cut the Hose
Use a sharp pair of scissors, a hose cutter or a razor knife to cut off the damaged coupler.
A torque wrench is the best tool for installing a hose clamp, though a screwdriver will work too.
Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Remover
Simply spray and walk away! That's it. Wet & Forget goes to work with the wind and rain to gently clean the surface over time. NO RINSE: Easy Spray & Leave Application. EFFORTLESS CLEAN: No Scrubbing, Rinsing or Pressure Washing.
Plus, garden hoses are usually left outside in unsanitary conditions, making them susceptible to bacteria and insects. For these reasons, it's usually not a good idea to drink water from a garden hose or an outdoor faucet. However, there are faucets and garden hoses that are safe to drink from if properly maintained.
Mix warm water with a mild laundry detergent or specially formulated deck cleaner in a bucket or liquid dish. Dip the brush into the deck cleaning solution and scrub the deck's surface in a back-and-forth motion. Pay special attention to high-traffic areas and areas with visible stains.
Bottles & Clay Pot Reservoirs.
Take an empty wine bottle, poke a hole in the top, fill it with water, then insert it into the ground next to the plant. The water will gradually dribble out throughout the day. Clay pots work just as well but take a bit more effort. First, dig a hole next to the plant.
Water bottles made for runners hold a range of fluid volumes, from just four ounces to 20 ounces, and can be carried in hand with a comfortable strap, around the waist in packs that hold one large or two small bottles of various sizes, or in hydration vests from brands like UltrAspire.
Don't let water build up in the hose
Leaving water in the hose can cause problems with unwanted bacteria in the interior funnel of the hose.
Greywater usually contains some traces of human waste and is therefore not free of pathogens. The excreta come from washing the anal area in the bath and shower or from the laundry (washing underwear and diapers).
Polyurethane or rubber hoses labeled “drinking water safe” are better options. (More about rubber hoses below.)
Thoroughly saturate the surface with Wet & Forget Outdoor. Then, allow the product to dry. Wet & Forget will work over time with the rain and wind to gently clean up the green and black stains.
Patio Magic! is a concentrated disinfectant for the easy treatment, removal and prevention of green mould and algae on hard surfaces. Also suitable for indoor use, and as a pre-fungicidal wash.
The main difference between Benzalkonium Chloride and Sodium Hypochlorite is on how fast they work. Benzalkonium Chloride in Wet and Forget has a long-term cleaning method, whereas the Sodium Hypochlorite in 30 Seconds Spray and Walk Away has a fast reaction for immediate results.
They're easy to use and, if applied correctly, a humble hose clamp can sort out a problem like a leak in minutes.
