Thinscape panels are a composite material, made up of papers and resins to achieve an overall thickness of ½”. As such the panels are rated for indoor use and hot pans or electric skillets should be placed on a hot pad.
If you're looking for something in between laminate and manufactured stone, Thinscape might be an option. Made from a 1/2 inch base, Thinscape mimics the look of marble, granite, and quartz surfaces but at a cheaper cost. It's durable, easier to fabricate than other surfaces, and is scratch and moisture resistant.
Trivets: Hot pans and electrical appliances should never come in contact with your THINSCAPE™ countertop. Never place pots or dishes directly from the oven or stove onto your countertop; always use hot pads or trivets.
Hand Routing—For best results, finished edges of Wilsonart® THINSCAPE® Performance Tops should be routed/milled. Rough cut panels to approximately 1/16” before finish routing. It is best to use cutters with larger diameter shanks (1/2”). However, smaller tools may be used with minimal feed rates and trim amounts.

Corian (designed by DuPont) was the first solid surface material to appear on the market. It was first sold in 1971 in only one color. The brand still exists and now manufacturers more than 100 colors. The material is stain-resistant due to its non-porous nature, a useful characteristic for a kitchen counter.
Granite and quartz are almost indestructible, standing up to tough kitchen challenges with ease. The same just isn't true for laminate, which is comprised of a slab of particle board and covered in a thin layer of resin and kraft paper.
