Hardwired Smoke Alarms
Identify which circuit breaker powers your smoke alarms. Each breaker should be labeled, so look for something that says “smoke alarm” or something similar. Turn off the circuit breaker for your smoke alarms. If your smoke alarms don't have battery backup, doing that will turn all of them off.
Reset the Smoke Detector: Sometimes, a smoke detector just needs a good reset to stop the chirping. You can do this by turning off the power at the circuit breaker, removing the detector from the mounting bracket and disconnecting the power supply. Then, press and hold the test button for about 15 seconds.

You can get smoke detectors with a button to silence and disable them for a few minutes after a false alarm (or rather, a near miss— burnt toast, etc.). The way to silence them permanently is to take them down and remove the battery.
