CHICAGO, Nov. 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- United States Cellular Corporation (NYSE: USM) today has announced that it has entered into an agreement with AT&T (NYSE: T) to sell a portion of the Company's retained spectrum licenses for total consideration of $1.018 billion.
Under the terms of the agreement, T-Mobile will acquire UScellular's wireless operations and approximately 30% of spectrum assets across several spectrum bands. In addition, T-Mobile will enter into a new master license agreement ("MLA") on more than 2,000 towers.
It is no secret that the company is a victim of a growing trend called cord-cutting, which involves consumers ditching cable TV for streaming services in order to save money. The trend has contributed to Spectrum losing its cable customers at a rapid pace.

Like most other “unlimited” data plans, Spectrum Mobile's Unlimited plan does actually have a limit. It throttles your data speeds after you use 30GB in a billing cycle. So, while you can technically use data after that, your speeds are super slow.
Pricing of Spectrum compared to Verizon differs slightly as Spectrum has a shorter introductory term. Initially, Spectrum's cheapest internet plan — $50/mo. for 500 Mbps; $10/mo. for equipment — is $15 cheaper than the equivalent Verizon plan of 500 Mbps for $84.99/mo.
Spectrum doesn't offer senior-specific discounts or plans. However, low-income seniors who qualify can save by applying for Spectrum Internet Assist. If eligible, households can receive access to Internet plans with speeds up to 50 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for a discount.

Yes, you can keep your phone number when switching to Spectrum Mobile. We accept phone numbers from all carriers. Do not cancel service with your current carrier until you've successfully transferred your phone number to Spectrum Mobile.
From 2009 to 2016, Time Warner Cable was an entirely independent company, continuing to use the Time Warner name under license from its former parent company (including the "Road Runner" name for its Internet service, that was merged into what is now Spectrum Internet).
Verizon will pay $1 billion for some UScellular spectrum, a transaction that helps to shine a light on the value of similar spectrum held by EchoStar's Dish Network. UScellular on Friday said it would sell $1 billion worth of its spectrum to Verizon.
Time Warner Cable Merger: Officially announced in May 2015 and finalized on May 18, 2016, this merger meant that Charter Communications would serve over 25 million customers in 41 states, under the brand name 'Spectrum'.
