Plastic is a staple in playroom furniture and toys, and tends to get grubby quickly. Start off by giving all the plastic in your playroom a good de-gunking. Use Pine-Sol® for quick wipe-downs on wooden tables and chairs, or for periodic deep-cleans on wooden floors and furniture.
Pine Sol is a disinfectant and degreaser. It's a rather harsh cleaner. It is not made for wood floors.
To clean wood furniture, you can use an all-purpose spray designed for wood or make a solution yourself, says Cohoon. In a bowl, mix warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Dip a microfiber cloth in the solution and wring it out so it's damp.
A: We do not recommend using Pine-Sol® Original Multi-Surface Cleaner on aluminum, copper or marble surfaces. We also do not recommend using Pine-Sol® Cleaners on cars, on dishes or as a pet shampoo.
While pine can certainly be used to make furniture, it will likely require more upkeep to reduce the appearance of wear. This may mean additional staining and sealing to prevent damage. Pine furniture is lightweight, affordable, and can easily fit in with the rest of your decor.
The principal classes of chemicals that have some type of degrading action on wood are: Strong mineral acids (generally pH less than 2): Acid hydrolysis occurs, forming a quantity of mixed sugars. These treatments will essentially destroy the wood over a period of time. Concentrated nitric acid may cause ignition.
Step 4 Scrub stubborn messes or stains with full strength Pine-Sol®, using a microfiber cloth. Finish by rinsing with water.
In 2022, certain Pine-Sol cleaners were recalled due to a potential health risk involving harmful bacteria.
If you have a problem with wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, or bees, Pine Sol can spare you from painful stings. Remember not to use it on honey bees – we need them to help pollinate our food plants – but for other hive insects, spray full strength Pine Sol as an insecticide.
Use Pine-Sol® for quick wipe-downs on wooden tables and chairs, or for periodic deep-cleans on wooden floors and furniture. Got a Picasso on your hands who fancies him or herself a muralist? Or just a case of grimy handprints or smudges on the walls? Give those walls a Pine-Sol® wash-down.
Add an extra layer of protection using wood treatments like oils or varnishes. Oils work by penetrating the grain of the wood and preventing any other materials from entering the wood. Varnishes create a hard barrier that acts as a first line of defense.
A mixture of 1 part Chlorine Bleach, (Clorox) to 32 parts water (½ cup bleach per gallon of water, or 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water) will need to sit on surfaces for 5-10 minutes in order to disinfect them. We found this did not harm either of our wood finishes.
Not only is this a powerful multi-surface cleaner, it's a Health Canada-registered disinfectant that kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. Use it on hard nonporous surfaces from stoves to sinks, tile to wood floors, showers to toilets, and dumpsters to garbage cans.
A: While Pine Sol is a popular household cleaner, using it on hardwood floors, especially engineered hardwood, may not be recommended as it can leave a residue that could potentially damage the finish over time.
The recalled products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an environmental organism found widely in soil and water. People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to Pseudomonas aeruginosa face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.
CAUTION: Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.
We do not recommend using Pine-Sol® on dishes. It is not approved by the EPA to be used on food-contact surfaces. Is Pine-Sol® safe to use on painted surfaces? We recommend testing a small inconspicuous area before using a Pine-Sol® cleaner on any painted surface.
Mice generally avoid the smell of Pine Sol. The strong scent is unpleasant for them, and they tend to steer clear of areas treated with Pine Sol. While it is not guaranteed that all mice will avoid Pine Sol, it effectively deter most mice from the treated areas.
Step 4 Splash Pine-Sol® into the toilet bowl and hit every crevice with your trusty toilet brush. Let it sit for a few minutes and flush. TIP: Only have a few minutes to clean? Add a little of your favorite scented Pine-Sol® to the toilet bowl in the morning to keep your bathroom smelling fresh throughout the day.
Fungal AttackCellar Fungus is one of the wet rot fungi, which feed on damp timber, causing the wood to lose weight and strength and ultimately collapse. Wet Rot fungi require more moisture than the Dry Rot fungus.
Dry rot is a fungus which consumes wood as it spreads so can be damaging to structural integrity. Leaks, damp or poor ventilation are often the cause of dry. Dry rot changes appearance as it progresses. In early stages, it can look like a fine white thread, as it grows it looks more like cotton wool.
Hydrogen peroxide is more than just a household cleaner—it's a powerhouse for lighting wood. Here's why it's my go-to method: Gentle Yet Effective: Lightens wood without damaging the fibres or leaving yellowish tones like household bleach. Cost-Effective: It's far cheaper than commercial wood bleaching products.
