A moderate oven has a range of 350–375 °F (180–190 °C), and a hot oven has temperature set to 400–450 °F (200–230 °C). A fast oven has a range of 450-500 °F (230–260 °C) for the typical temperature.
475-500 F: Things are starting to get hot in here. If you're cranking the heat to the highest your oven can go, you're likely making pizza or breads. A super high temperature will cause the bread or pizza dough to rise and cook before the gluten has a chance to set (this is a good thing).
No you can bake at 500 degrees and it will not damage anything. These oven can go up to 1000 degrees for self clean and not damage anything. It will be just fine. The high temps should not ruin the parts that fast maybe you just got a couple lemon parts.

The Best Temperature to Cook Pizza
For a classic medium-crust pizza, cooking at high temperatures ranging from 475°F to 500°F (245°C to 260°C) is ideal.
After you have cleaned your grill thoroughly with your brush, spray it with a grill-worthy non-stick spray and then turn it up to 450-500 degrees. Place steak over direct heat to sear – let it stay over direct heat for 3-4 minutes. Flip and sear an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side.
If your oven's temperature is higher than what you set it to, then it's likely that your thermostat has become faulty and requires replacing.
Extremely Hot Oven (475°F to 500°F): This is a temperature you'll use sparingly, often reserved for the highest-heat cooking tasks, like finishing a dish with a broiler or achieving a deeply charred crust on a pizza.
Ovens typically take about 30–45 minutes to cool down, but cooling time can vary depending on the oven's temperature, capacity, environment and fuel type. Cracking open the oven door may help it cool faster but it can also pose a safety hazard, so it's best to keep the door closed.
My best results were found using a 6QT/6L Dutch oven, preheating to 500F/260C (25 minutes) and baking at 450F/232C for 20 minutes with the lid on and 20 minutes with the lid off. Because the broiler temperature is so hot—500 to 550 degrees F and the food cooks so close to the heat source, you'll want to limit how long you cook a steak under the broiler, no longer than 15 minutes.
Preheat the grill to 500 degrees and set it for direct heat. Sear the steak flipping it every 30-40 seconds to get an even sear and cook throughout. To achieve the perfect medium rare, the final internal temperature on the steak should be 120 degrees when removing off the grill.
