R-407A is a close match to R-22's capacities and flow rates, making it well suited as a retrofit for R-22 in supermarket and food storage applications. Additionally, R-407A is one of the more energy efficient R-22 retrofit options available for refrigeration applications.

NO!! NEVER mix any refrigerants. First, if mixed, you have created a substance that cannot be reclaimed, and thus will have to be destroyed at the owner's expense (it isn't cheap!). Second, there are different refrigerants because there are different applications and designs.
R407C does not contain the chlorine, necessary for the dissolving of mineral oils, used with R22. It has therefore been necessary to develop oils, which are compatible with the new refrigerants. They are known as Polyolester or POE oils.
Forane® 407A is a lower GWP refrigerant, designed for the replacement of R-404A and R-507A (retrofit and new equipment) in medium and low temperature refrigeration. Common applications include supermarket refrigeration, refrigerated transports, and food processing.
Freon™ MO29 refrigerant: Extends system life using the same equipment as R-22, so a system with an R-22 leak does not need to be completely replaced or upgraded. Offers similar capacity and efficiency as R-22.
Because R-22 depletes the ozone layer, production and import was further limited in 2010. In 2020, R-22 will no longer be produced or imported. After 2020, only recovered, recycled, or reclaimed supplies of R-22 will be available. The production (not use) of R-22 is being phased out.
R-438A should not be mixed with any other refrigerant! Demand Cooling™ is required for low temperature applications. 5. When retrofitting from R-22 to R-438A, the expansion valve will likely not require replacement; however, it is recommended that the valve loadings be evaluated to verify that they are adequate.
Freon™ 407C exhibits similar performance to HCFC-22 at air conditioning conditions, while Freon™ 407A exhibits similar performance to R-404A with lower capacity at low and medium temperature refrigeration conditions. General physical properties for Freon™ 407C and Freon™ 407A are shown in Table 3.
The best replacement for R-22 Freon is usually R-407c. It has a very low loss in capacity (0 – 5%) relative to R-22 and is less expensive than many other R-22 replacement refrigerants. If a system has R22 in it already you cannot use a replacement refrigerant to simply add to the R22.
So… what refrigerant can be mixed with R-22? None. You can't mix refrigerants.
www.forofrio.com recommended not to mix Forane 407A with R-404A or R-507A. Weigh the amount of refrigerant removed. Lubricants used with R-404A or R-507A can normally be used with Forane 407A.
Forane® 407A requires polyolester (POE) lubricant to ensure reliable oil return and circulation throughout the system. In many cases the original system oil can be reused. Due to the zeotropic nature of Forane® 407A, it should be charged as a liquid to prevent fractionation.
What are the regulations on R134a, R407C and R410A? The commonly used synthetic refrigerants such as R134a, R407C and R410A have a GWP value higher than 2,500. As a result, their production is being phased out. By 2020, around 40% of the total production of synthetic refrigerants have been phased out.
In 2010, the U.S. stopped the sale of newly manufactured residential air conditioning units and heat pumps that use R-22 because of its particularly harmful impact on the ozone layer when released into the air. On January 1, 2020, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the production and import of R-22.
R-410A PHASE-DOWN TIMELINE
We will reach a 70% decrease by 2029. In 2034, we will see 80% less R-410A being produced than it is today, and the phase-down will end in 2036 with another 5% reduction.
What Refrigerant Is In My Cooling System? On January 1, 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented a ban on the production and import of R22, except for continuing servicing needs of existing equipment. The EPA also banned the manufacture and installation of new R22 AC or heat pump systems.
