To factory reset your SimpliSafe camera, first remove the camera from your account via the SimpliSafe Mobile App. Navigate to Cameras Settings, select your device, and tap Remove Camera. Then, perform the hardware reset specific to your model:
To hard reset a SimpliSafe camera, hold the setup button (located on top of the SimpliCam or on the back of the Outdoor Camera) for 20 to 30 seconds. Release the button to reboot the camera, and then add it back to your system via the SimpliSafe app.
To fix a SimpliSafe camera that is offline, start by power cycling the camera. Unplug it for 30 seconds (or remove the battery), then plug it back in. Next, reboot your Wi-Fi router. If it remains offline, check your Wi-Fi signal strength and reset the camera.
To connect your SimpliSafe camera to a new Wi-Fi network, update the network credentials directly in the mobile app.
To change the Wi-Fi on your security camera, you will typically need to reconnect the device using its mobile app. First, ensure your smartphone is connected to your new Wi-Fi network. Then, open your camera's companion app, navigate to the device's General Settings, find the Wi-Fi Settings, and enter your new network details.
If your SimpliSafe camera is not connecting, the most common culprits are Wi-Fi network incompatibility (requiring 2.4 GHz), distance from the router, or security protocol settings.
Most modern IP cameras allow you to reset the device through their companion apps or web application. You can log in the web application and go to the “settings” menu to reset the camera. You may find an option to “restore to factory settings or reset” the camera.
To factory reset your camera, first locate the dedicated reset button (often found behind a memory card slot door or on the connection cable). Turn the camera on, press and hold the button with a pin or paperclip for 10 to 30 seconds until the device restarts or chimes.
To reinstall your Entry Sensor:
To quickly fix a camera failing to connect to Wi-Fi, ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz network (most cameras do not support 5 GHz), verify your Wi-Fi password, and temporarily move the camera close to your router to establish the initial connection.
To get your security camera back online, start by doing a basic power cycle: unplug the camera, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in. Also, restart your Wi-Fi router. If this quick fix doesn't work, follow these sequential steps:
To reboot your SimpliSafe Base Station, unplug the power cable from the bottom. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the bottom cover to access the battery, and take out one of the batteries. Wait 60 seconds, reinsert the battery, replace the cover, and plug it back in.
Your SimpliSafe Master PIN is the primary 4-digit code used to arm and disarm your system, lock/unlock your smart lock, and access the Keypad's menu. You can easily change or recover your Master PIN through the SimpliSafe mobile app.
To transfer your SimpliSafe system to a new owner, you must close your active account so the new owner can register the equipment on a new one.
A manual factory reset, often called a hard reset, erases all personal data and settings on your device, returning it to the exact state it was in when it left the factory. This is typically used to fix major software issues or wipe a device before selling it.
A factory reset button restores a device to its original out-of-the-box settings by erasing all user data, apps, and preferences. Depending on the device, this is either a software menu option or a physical, recessed button that requires a paperclip to press.
On most phones, you can reset your phone through the Settings app. If you can't open your phone's Settings app, you can try factory resetting your phone using its power and volume buttons.
A force restart (or hard reset) forcefully reboots a frozen or unresponsive smartphone without deleting any of your personal data. The exact button combination varies depending on your device.
