The most effective solution is to install a water softener that will treat hard water right at the source. As the water coming out of your showerhead will contain fewer minerals, limescale buildup will automatically decrease. If you don't have the money for the first option, you can prevent limescale with vinegar.
Don't let products, like shampoo botlles, sit in a puddle of water; this can greatly contribute to limescale and soap scum build up. Remember to wipe down the shower itself including the hose and the shower head. This can prevent limescale from forming in the nozzle which can impact your water pressure.
Cleaning your faucets and showerheads is only a short-term fix to calcium buildup. There are two ways to prevent calcium build-up so it no longer is an issue in your household. Clean your appliances regularly

Preventive Vinegar Spray
