Stopping a smoke alarm from beeping is often simple. Get a step ladder and carefully reach for the alarm. Pressing the “Test/Silence” button on the front of the unit should stop it from beeping or chirping. If this doesn't work, grasp the device and turn it counterclockwise.
Press the hush/silencing button. It will silence the entire interconnected system. The button may also say “test.” It should silence all the alarms immediately unless there's still smoke and debris.
The Silence Feature can temporarily quiet an unwanted alarm for up to 15 minutes. To use this feature, press the “Push to Test/Silence” button on the cover. If the unit will not silence and no heavy smoke is present, or if it stays in silence mode continuously, it should be replaced immediately.
Silence Button: Many smoke detectors have a ``silence'' or ``hush'' button. Press this button to temporarily silence the alarm. This is often effective for a short period, but the beeping may resume after some time if the battery issue persists.
The basic instruction for temporarily silencing your alarm system is to press the silence or hush button, which will deactivate the triggers for a few minutes. Most smoke detectors have this button named 'test,' which you can press and hold for a few seconds to get the job done.
The beeping sound the low battery alarm makes can become very annoying but can be disconnected by removing the drained battery from your home alarm system panel. Make sure to replace the drained battery with a new one to keep your home alarm system functioning properly.
Low batteries are the most common cause of random beeping. Open the device and check the battery compartment. Replace the old batteries with fresh ones, ensuring they are installed correctly. After replacing the batteries, allow a few minutes for the detector to reset.
Dust and debris can easily accumulate inside your hard-wired smoke alarm, causing that incessant chirping sound. This build-up can interfere with the sensing chamber, triggering false alarms. To prevent this, make a habit of cleaning your smoke detectors regularly.
While your smoke alarm sounds, pressing the hush button will silence the smoke alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The hush feature is typically used where an alarm has been triggered accidently. This provides time to clear the current environment of fumes that triggered the alarm without the alert tone sounding.
Covering the smoke detector with a dishcloth can work. You could also use a shower cap or a rubber band and plastic wrap to temporarily disable the smoke detector.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, most alarms have a life span of 8-10 years. After this time, the entire unit should be replaced. Most alarms have the date of manufacture inside the unit. If you cannot find the date, replace it.

It should detach from the base so you can open the battery compartment in the back. Remove and replace the battery to see if it caused the issue.
You may also be able to hit the silence button on any smoke alarm, which will cause all the non-initiating smoke alarms to silence so you can hear just the initiating one.
'Low battery chirp' is a short high pitched warning sounds emitted by your smoke alarm every 30-40 seconds. Pressing the 'Hush' button will force the alarm into 'low battery hush' mode, temporarily silencing the low battery warning for 8 hours, to give you time to replace the 9V battery.
First, try the reset button on each smoke alarm. If that doesn't work, flip the circuit breaker off and on. If that fails, you may have to disconnect the smoke alarms and remove the backup batteries inside them one by one. (The batteries are there to protect you during a power outage.)
Low battery life triggers the alarm in a smoke detector more often in the early hours of the morning. You should check the alarm batteries in every battery operated smoke alarm on a regular basis. As the battery in a smoke alarm loses power, it causes an internal resistance within the smoke detector.
Low or Dead Batteries
