There are 24 keys in total in Netflix's series of Locke and Key. Here's a definitive list of what they do. In Netflix's series of Locke and Key, there are 24 keys revealed in total, although there are other types of keys in the comics not seen in the show.
There are 20 keys introduced in the first two seasons and four new keys found in season 3, so altogether there are 24 keys featured in Locke and Key. The comics have several more.
The original Keys were crafted by Benjamin Locke during the eighteenth-century Revolutionary War. After Benjamin, many more keys were made by others, including: Harland and Tyler Locke, even Hans Riffel.
Arguably the most powerful key in the entire series is the Creation Key. It's also the final frontier for Gideon, who spends nearly half of Season 3 trying to acquire it. The Creation Key allows the user to bring to life anything that can be drawn.
Sadly, we know that Locke & Key will not return for a Locke And Key Season 4 (which we should have known months ago with Netflix's statement).
At the time of the show's ending being announced, co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill released a statement that read: "Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion.
Was that the series finale?” The answer is… yes, yes it was. There is no Locke and Key season 4, as when it was picked up for the third season, it was declared ahead of time that it would be its last.
1 The Anywhere Key
The best key of them all would have to be the first key ever to be discovered by Bode Locke. This key can be used in any door at all, and when there is an intention in place, it can transport the user to any location in the world.
Gideon's demon is stated to be one of the most powerful in existence, far more powerful than Dodge.
Frederick Gideon (Kevin Durand) is by far the most sinister villain in Locke & Key. Even the demon Dodge, who torments the Locke family throughout the series' first two seasons, wants nothing to do with the guy.
The known keys are: Alpha Key: Removes demons from possessed people's souls when inserted into their chests. It instantly turns a demon to whispering iron so, if the demon is still inside the host, the key's effect is fatal.
The Angel Key consists of a harness with a large pair of white wings, with the key fitting into the back. Wearing the wings allows the user to fly and carry a considerable amount of weight. The harness can also fly independently of its wearer.
This key allows the user to open the moon, as though the moon itself was a door. One can pass into the door taking them to a "backstage" of the world, referred to as "Chamberlin's Moon", and allows the user to pass into the afterlife gently.
Locke family barrier: Dodge, like any other demonic entity, cannot take any Locke's keys through physical force, as she had to come up with various plans to force Bode to give her his keys. As this rule is exclusive for the Lockes, anyone else who has a key on their person, she can physically steal from them.
Encourages Sexual Violence. Honestly, don't let your kids watch this unless you're willing to walk them through sexual violence. There's a scene where a woman asks to be choked during sex, then turns around to choke her sexual partner (who looks like a teenage boy, btw). He says no and stop.
The Demon Key Is Forged to Create Dodge's Army
(We went dwell too long on the poor fisherman, who was left nothing but ooze and bones following the first attempt.) With is identity as Dodge exposed, Gabe forces Duncan to make what becomes known as the Demon Key.
Connor Jessup as Tyler Locke
He's also a very skeptical person and has a hard time believing his brother when he sees the mysterious, magical keys found in their ancestral home. But later on in the series, Tyler begins to acknowledge the powers these keys hold, thus drawing his strength from finding them.
It's later revealed that Duncan is one of very few people known to have made new keys, having created the Memory and Demon Keys. After his memories are restored, Duncan joins his family in defending the Keyhouse from Dodge.
Locke is a recurring antagonist from the HBO TV series Game of Thrones. He is considered by Roose Bolton to be his best hunter and known for having cut off Jaime Lannister's sword hand. He is the TV series' condensed version of the character Vargo Hoat from the A Song of Ice and Fire novels.
The mending key allows the user to open the Mending Cabinet, a special cabinet made out of the Whispering Iron. The cabinet is able to change its size, depending on the object which is stuffed into it. Once a broken object is inside the cabinet, the user has to lock the cabinet.
The Harlequin Key, which is shaped to look like the head of a jester, is introduced thanks to the Timeshift Key. Bode learns of its existence when he travels back and meets his Colonial-era ancestors Benjamin and Miranda Locke.
To win back her brother's soul from Hell, Mary Locke has done the unthinkable: she's seized control of the imprisoned Dream Lord's artifacts of power and crossed over into his place of power, the Dreaming!
Locke & Key Season 3 Teases Magic is Still Out There
But as the episode ends, viewers hear that familiar magical whispering around the Keyhouse's door. It's a hint the magic is still out there, and the story of Locke & Key could be resumed should Netflix choose to do so.
The exact year of the events in Locke & Key is never stated in the comics, although it can be surmised by small details. The obscured calendar decade in Locke & Key: Keys to the Kingdom #3 and Locke & Key: Keys to the Kingdom #5 confirms it is in the 2010s.
World War Key is a graphic novel series published by IDW publishing that succeeds Locke & Key as a sequel and prequel. The series is expected to run thirty-seven issues across six books. The Golden Age serves as the prelude arc, "World War 0", to the series.
