The Smoke & CO Detector takes two CR-123A Lithium 3V batteries and has a life expectancy of up to 2 years, depending on placement and usage.
In the event of a power outage, your SimpliSafe® Base Station is equipped with a backup rechargeable battery supply that will keep your Base Station powered for up to 24 hrs.
Generally, this issue will happen for one of two reasons: The Keypad is too far away from or cannot communicate with the Base Station. The Keypad is not paired with the Base Station.

The average battery life of a Bluetooth keypad door lock ranges between 1 to 3 years under normal usage conditions. However, locks that experience higher traffic may require more frequent battery changes, approximately every 6 to 12 months.
If you instead enable Away mode, your motion sensor and camera will be activated. This is less than ideal for use at night, as it could cause your alarms to trip if anyone in your family gets out of bed and ventures downstairs or into the path of a sensor.
Batteries in wireless security cameras last one to three years. The batteries are only in the security camera as a backup should the power in your home go out. Batteries in wire-free security cameras, in contrast, last for about 14 hours of recording before you need to change them.
So you can have as many Keypads and Key Fobs as you like (up to the 100 component limit), and they will all work for the whole system. A: You need the whole system because it communicates with the base.
