1.5" is standard overhang for most pools with this style of coping. As much as 3" is used for pools that are not built to square (to hide the lines) or pools that have an automatic pool cover with rails mounted on the underside of your coping.
Typically made of concrete and steel, the bond beam adds strength and support to the pool wall. If coping is installed correctly, any water that is splashed out of the pool should flow away from the pool and down into deck drains. Coping should be tilted slightly away from the pool.
When selecting your coping please allow 25-35mm overhang on each side for the drip channels. Copings are supplied throated.
TILE AND COPING
Tile and Coping usually take one or two days to install. But on complex projects, this vital stage could take longer. (If you chose cantilever style decking, the sequence of Steps 9 and 12 will be reversed.)
The height of the sides is 50mm or 75mm on standard coping, and 66mm on moulded coping. We stock many base widths, ranging from 150mm up to to 700mm for our standard twice-weathered coping, and from 120mm up to 480mm for our moulded coping. All other sizes can be made to order.
Well-known member. thats way too much slope. slope should be no more than 2 inches over a span like that.
WHAT IS POOL COPING? Coping is the term used to identify the material used to cap the pool edge or shell wall. Options available are poured-in-place concrete, precast concrete, tile, and natural stone (pavers, flagstone, etc.).
Lay mulch, such as shredded bark, to prevent grass and weeds from growing in that 3-foot around around the pool. You also can use gravel or rocks, which will minimize the amount of dirt that gets into your pool.
It can be hard work and time-consuming, but it's a lot easier without any weight on it. Things don't always go as planned, though, so if you find that your pool is uneven after you fill it, don't despair. It is fixable. It will just take hard effort and determination on your part.
The short answer is yes. By working with professional pool builders and landscapers, you can pursue pool installation even when you're dealing with a slope. However, you'll have to utilize some creativity in order to have the final result be aesthetically pleasing, functional, and safe.
Ideal Water Height
Most pool professionals agree that the water level in both in-ground and above-ground pools should be at the midpoint of the pool skimmer. The skimmer is responsible for providing a pathway for water to flow to the filter where it is cleaned.
Coping Stones are flat slabs of concrete specially designed to prevent water damaging a wall beneath your roof.
'Twice Weathered' is the term used to describe ... [More] They suit all property types and are designed to seamlessly match your walling. All copings are supplied with a drip channel* placed under both sides to ensure rain water will not run down the face of your wall.
As porcelain is virtually non porous, porecelain coping stones keep water ingress to a minimum and prevent staining.
For your coping, your PB can do a "stepped" pour. Meaning 2-1/2" at the pool edge, and thicker where it will meet your deck. I would suggest a minimum of 3-1/2" at the deck edge, to give you a stronger, longer lasting coping/deck.
Like the rest of your pool surface, coping should last anywhere from 10-30 years. But this varies by material and climate.
Typically within a week to 10 days from tile and coping, the deck is set with form boards, steel and sand, which may be delivered to the job site the day. Every city requires an inspection at this time. Once approved, the deck crew will bring concrete and pour the deck.
Epoxy grout is durable, waterproof, and requires no sealing. For these reasons, waterproof epoxy grout is a great choice for swimming pools. It's resistant to staining, cracking, and crumbling, making it ideal for areas where there is a likelihood of high traffic.
Place stakes or sticks at areas that slope or are off-grade. You'll need to dig away these area in order to create level ground for the pool. Dig away soil instead of building up low patches. Always dig away slopes and high spots to make them level with lower areas, even if it takes more work.
Ensure that the pool layout that you're creating will accommodate the slope. You can do this by building up pool walls on the higher side of the slope, giving you an inbuilt retaining wall. Or, build a pool wall on the lower side of the slope until the walls' level is even around your pool.
Semi-inground pools offer the best of both worlds. You'll find that a semi-ground swimming pool is significantly deeper than a regular above-ground pool, but doesn't cost nearly as much as a traditional in-ground pool.
Two inches off usually will not cause any structural issues so you can live with it that way. Any more than two inches is unacceptable.
