The standard height of a bathroom vanity is 32 inches or around 2.5 feet. This height has been the standard height for decades and it is very prevalent in older homes.
However, if you have a range of heights in your family, choosing an average is best. For example, technically speaking, the optimal vanity height for men is between 34 and 36 inches, and the optimal height for women is between 32 and 34 inches. The average number of 34, then, fits the bill for both men and women.
The typical comfort height for the positioning of a floating bathroom vanity unit can be anything between 25-30 inches from the floor, or 635 to 760mm. Usually, vanities positioned on the lower side of this scale will feature a vessel sink, which will generally add on five or six inches atop.
Clearance in front of the vanity: 21" minimum, although 30" is recommended for a total of 51" from the wall.
Bathroom base cabinets and vanities are typically lower than kitchen countertops because they are designed for tasks done seated or when bending at the waist, such as applying makeup or shaving.
Generally, flooring contractors prefer that the cabinets go in first so that there is less possibility of the floor getting scratched. Cabinet installers like the floor to be in place so that the cutting and dust from the floor installation will not damage the vanity.
You can install vinyl plank flooring underneath a bathroom vanity (unless the manufacturer advises against this, for warranty reasons). But, generally speaking, bathroom vanities can be installed directly over the subfloor, so covering the area with flooring first seems like unnecessary work.
It isn't imperative to tile behind a vanity unit and whether or not you choose to do so depends entirely on your own preferences. Some homeowners choose to begin their bathroom updates by tiling the wall and then adding the vanity unit, simply because it suits them and it's how they would like to approach the project.
Contrast Dark To The Light
Or, if you want to bring out your tiles, you go for a black vanity and lighter tiles. Either way, contrasting the dark against the light or vice versa, is the perfect way to match your tiles with your vanity.
If a window is available, position the vanity nearby to capitalize on natural light. If you're relying on artificial light, install fixtures on either side of the mirror—this will illuminate your face more effectively than overhead lighting alone.
Water control: If water collects on the surface of your countertop, it's important that the surface is as level as possible so the water can pool in place instead of spreading across the surface. That water can drip onto the floor and make the surface unexpectedly slippery.
This depends on the type of vanity you choose. For a freestanding vanity that reaches the floor, you can attach it to the wall (or the floor) using simple L-brackets concealed inside the cabinet. If you're installing a floating vanity, you'll need to install bracing on which to hang it.
When tiles are laid horizontally, and to the ceiling, the bathroom looks wider and more spacious. Compare this to a vertical laid tile, which tends to make the ceilings look taller but the space tighter.
Tiling under your new vanity or custom cabinets can prevent shower or sink water from finding its way into your house. Extending tile all the way under freestanding or floating vanities can make a room look and feel larger, too.
Between splashing water and various toiletries, the wall behind your vanity can take a lot of abuse. A backsplash not only prevents any damage to the drywall, but it also provides an easy-to-clean surface when trying to scrub away spots of toothpaste or other substances that end up splattered on the wall.

As we mentioned before, kitchen floors need to be able to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity, so if they were glued or nailed down, it would impede this necessary movement and cause damage to the cabinets.
We recommend that the toilet bowl be placed on top of the tiles on a finished floor. That's the long and short of it, unless you used a thin material for your tile, like vinyl.

Replace the Bathroom Vanity Cabinet
For maximum room, replace your vanity cabinet with a cantilevered countertop or with a pedestal sink. Pedestal sinks can be self-installed and cost between $150 and $400. While pedestal sinks give you more floor space, keep in mind that your countertop space will shrink.
Recommended Clear Bathroom Space
Plan a clear floor space of at least 30 inches from the front edge of all fixtures (lavatory, toilet, bidet, tub, and shower) to any opposite bath fixture, wall, or obstacle.
(1) Bathrooms shall be located not more than 30 feet from the primary activity areas. (2) The center shall provide at least one toilet and one hand-washing sink for every 10 participants. Additional toilets and hand-washing sinks may be required based upon the toileting needs of the participants.
If the top is on a free standing vanity (no walls on either side) the top should be 2” LONGER (B) than the vanity to allow for 1” overhang on each side.
Sink spacing
The minimum distance from the centerline of the sink to a wall is 15". There must be 4" between the edge of a free-standing or wall-hung sink and the wall. (This makes it easier to clean between the edge of the vanity and the wall.)
