The defrost cycle turns on the defrost heater, and will begin to melt stuck ice, perhaps solving the problem or making further troubleshooting easier. You may have to wait up to 24 hours after resetting before your appliance starts making ice again. Then, ice makers will produce 2 trays of ice every 3 hours.
You'll need to just remove all the ice. You can either unplug the unit for 24 hours and let all the ice on the icemaker thaw out, or just unplug the unit and use a hair dryer and melt all the ice on the fill tube and icemaker. Once all the ice is melted, the unit should be good to go again.

Open the freezer door and position the fan so that air circulates into the freezer. The room temperature air will help the ice melt at a slightly faster pace. Another popular method for defrosting a freezer quickly is to use steam to melt the ice.
The ice maker or dispenser could be jammed or broken, a dirty water filter or kinked water line could be blocking water flow or the water inlet valve could be clogged or faulty.
If it's not clear, you need to remove the ice bucket and point a hair dryer above the ice maker toward the back to thaw out the fill tube until you can blow through it (keep the hair dryer moving so nothing melts).
Check the ice maker, check if the direct water supply inlet is frozen, then defrost it with hot water by pouring directly through the pipeline. Use a small funnel and hot water to thaw a frozen inlet tube, or remove the tube and thaw in a sink.
Normally water only contacts the sensor when the ice is at the proper size. However, irregular water flow can cause premature contact resulting in a short freeze cycle, small bridge, long harvest and even a shut down on short freeze (code 8).
If your ice maker is not dropping ice, it could be that there's a blockage in the ice tray, or an ice cube is jammed between the bin and the lever. If this happens, here are some things you can do: Double-check that the lever is pushed down and/or the ice maker is switched on.
An ice maker freeze up happens when too much water is spread in and around your ice maker and freezes, resulting in damage to vital components. Luckily, there are warning signs and ways to identify when an ice maker freezes up.
The forced defrost cycle takes about 30-60 minutes. Turning off the ice maker off can take up to 24 hours to fully defrost.
The safest way to defrost food is in the fridge
Allow at least 24 hours for every 2-2.5 kg (4-5 lbs). Once the food has thawed, cook or eat it within 24 hours. Do not refreeze it.
Use Warm Water: One of the most effective ways to thaw out a jammed ice maker is to use warm water. Fill a bowl or container with warm water and pour it over the ice maker components, paying particular attention to the area where the ice is jammed.
If you don't hear a chime, but you can see movement from the ice maker, then the ice maker was reset. If you don't hear a chime and there is no movement from the ice maker, unplug the fridge or turn it off at the circuit breaker for 2 minutes. Then, power it back up and try again.
Temperature Affects Ice Production
The Refrigerator and icemaker must be at proper temperature. The recommended fresh food temperature is 37° Fahrenheit; the freezer recommended temperature is 0° Fahrenheit. The icemaker must reach about 16°Fahrenheit before a cycle will begin.
There's no need to forcefully break up any ice or you could damage your freezer. You may choose to use a hair dryer to defrost a freezer, but it's not something we'd recommend - since water and electricity don't mix. Plus, blasting hot air into your freezer can damage any freezer elements.
The easiest way to defrost a freezer is to simply let the ice melt on its own. After you unplug your appliance, leave the door open and wait for the ice to melt on its own.
