You can remove the deadbolt lock without the key by taking off the mounting screws with a screwdriver so that you can then pry off the plates with a flathead screwdriver. You can then pull the clip out of the bottom of the deadbolt and push the topper to retract the deadbolt.
Learning how to pick a lock with a hairpin can be a fun challenge, but sadly it doesn't always work. Bobby pins are bulky, and some locks have slimmer keyways that are too small for a bobby pin to enter. So if you really want to learn lockpicking, I would highly suggest considering a basic lock picking set.
Replacing an existing deadbolt lock is a pretty simple task, and does not usually require any special tools. In most cases, all you need to replace a deadbolt is a Philips head screw driver.
Strike plate:
Similar to a faceplate, the strike plate is a metal plate that is affixed to the doorjamb and has a hole (or holes) that accommodate the lock bolt. It is not only decorative. The strike plate protects the doorjamb and adds security to the opening.
It is all depending on the deadbolt that you have. If it is a standard lock they can usually just pick it or bump key it. But if it a security lock then the only way that they are able to open it is to drill the lock.
Other videos criticizing Kwikset point out that the lock can be easily compromised using a specialized bypass tool used by locksmiths. This tool was developed specifically because the SmartKey lock is so tough to pick -- locksmiths needed another way to force the lock open for their locked-out customers.

Unfortunately, you can not unlock a deadbolt with a credit card. Credit cards will only work with slanted-latch-style locks. Furthermore, the slant of the latch must be facing you so that you may press it in using your card.
