Set the washing machine to the coldest possible temperature, on a short cycle, and choose a light soil setting for a lightly soiled load. Dark-coloured clothing is susceptible to losing its colour during a laundry cycle. Washing dark clothes in cold water helps the fibres in dark fabric stay intact.

Tip 3: Colour detergent for black laundry
To avoid white deposits on your black laundry, it's best to use a liquid colour detergent. Delicate detergent can also be beneficial for delicate items of clothing, such as black blouses, lace lingerie or dark jeans.
To preserve the color and quality of black clothes, wash them inside out with cold water and the best mild detergent. Avoid overloading the machine and air dry the clothes, as this could fade them out.
If you're looking to revive their dark allure, consider a high-quality fabric dye specifically designed for black garments. Follow the instructions on the dye package to restore your clothes' original darkness. This process can breathe new life into your faded black attire.
Adding vinegar directly to the wash with your laundry detergent may compromise its cleaning performance. Laundry detergents are formulated for specific pH levels, which may be disrupted by the acidity of vinegar, leading to less effective cleaning. It's best to avoid mixing them to ensure optimal results.
Tide+ with Bleach contains a color-safe bleach and an activating ingredient to help get and keep whites and colors bright. It's safe for washable fabrics and vivid hues because it doesn't contain chlorine bleach. The powder dissolved and worked in both traditional and high-efficiency washing machines in our tests.
Restoring With Coffee
This method is most effective when used on cotton fabrics, like faded black t-shirts. The effects aren't as ideal on other types of fabrics. If you want to restore clothing to a very rich black color, coffee is less effective than black fabric dye. Coffee will have more natural-looking results.
