Defrosting the freezer and cleaning it regularly helps keep ice at bay. Once the freezer is defrosted, clean it using a warm water and baking soda solution to remove food particles or liquids and limit ice formation. Also inspect the condition of your door seals, and replace them when they wear down.
Make sure the freezer is properly sealed to keep warm air and humidity out, so you can reduce the risk of frost forming. Keep the temperature consistent, and regularly clean the inside of your freezer to remove any existing frost. Ensure your freezer's thermostat is set properly.

Cleaning Defrost Drain Tube
You can flush out the drain hole with a solution made of 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 2 cups of hot tap water. Use a meat/turkey (bulb) baster to squeeze the solution into the drain hole and flush out the drain tube. When clear, you will hear water running down into the drain pan below.
