The easiest way to match or find replacement parts for existing cabinetry is to first identify the brand. Cabinet manufacturers use different methods for branding their cabinets. Some manufacturers will brand the inside, or outside of the drawer boxes with their logo as seen below.
Even if the new floor cabinets look slightly different than the old, connect them visually by selecting a new countertop that matches the old one. If the new cabinets sit far enough away from the old, a slightly different type of countertop may suffice, as long as the color is fairly similar.
The interior design rule for using contrasting wood elements is to stick to wood that shares the same color spectrum and tones as the other wood, and then find something that is at least three shades lighter or darker. The best way to match various wooden elements is to think in contrasting colors.
Look at the clarity of the wood. Look at the sheen, the thickness of the finish, the amount of orange peel, and the amount of blotching (unlikely there will be any). Look at the ground color and then the secondary color because that's what you need to match.
Well, it should be no surprise… the classic white cabinet will still be the #1 cabinet color for kitchens in 2022 and beyond. White is crisp and clean, will brighten any kitchen, and will most likely never go out of style.
Painting inside kitchen cabinets doesn't matter either way. The wood already has protection against oil vapors, so painting inside isn't necessary. It may also be difficult, but doing so can add visual stimulation to a boring kitchen. If you want to redo your kitchen, painting the cabinets is an easy option.
Just bring in a sample piece to be matched. Keep in mind that stain can look different on different pieces of wood. So if you're doing trim, for example, don't just bring in the piece that's easiest to remove; choose a sample piece that has the color and tone you want.
Buy online or through our mobile app and pick up at your local Lowe's. If you find a price from a qualified retailer that's lower on an exact product, we'll match it.

Kitchen cabinets do not have to match. Your kitchen and your cabinets can look however you want them to look. If you prefer them to match, they can. Or if you prefer to add variety, then they don't have to.
Mixing and matching cabinets can also help a smaller kitchen feel more spacious. Definitely keep the darker colors down below, and go with high-gloss white on the upper cabinets to create a glow and reflect the light in the smaller room.
Should your pantry cabinets match your kitchen cabinets? In short, we typically recommend that you keep your cabinets consistent throughout your kitchen and pantry. Although it's fine to mix and match, using the same cabinets throughout creates a nice uniformity that adds value when it comes time to resell.
As a simple rule, kitchen cabinets should always match trim as much as they can. Any contrast that you intentionally create should not necessarily be a striking contrast. It's important to try to create a sense of unity among the different elements being tied together to avoid making the contrast appear accidental.
Upper and lower cabinets may align at each end, and they sometimes do. However, aligning every upper and lower cabinet throughout the room is rare. As long as the cabinets are installed securely, almost anything goes.
To better match new wood to older wood it is best to wash the entire wood surface. Using a wood cleaner and a pressure washer will remove any dirt, grime, and gray wood fibers from the older wood and mill glaze from the newer wood. Once clean, apply a wood brightener to the wood surface.

For wood, brushing is fine, but you may want to hire a professional for a good finish. Using a roller to paint cabinets is a lot faster than brush painting, however, the fabric on the roller will create a 'bobbly' texture on the surface. The texture a roller puts on cabinets makes it unsuitable for gloss paint.
Two coats of paint are essential for cabinets—you're building a surface. By the way, to get the nicest finish, use a brush, a 2- to 2 1/2-inch fine bristle brush. Whatever paint you use, ventilate the room—direct a fan out the window—and wear the masks they sell in paint stores.
It's actually a common problem to have painted cabinets chip and peel, and that means people have already developed solutions to give paint a long-lasting finish. If your kitchen cabinets are peeling or the paint scratches off with a fingernail, you just need to do some touch-ups with the right products and procedures.
