Almost every insurance company and government-sponsored organization recommends placing furniture at least three feet from a fireplace. Any closer than three feet, and the risk of an ember landing on a flammable material increases dramatically – even for fireplaces with screens.

Whether it's a permanent seal or a temporary plug between uses, covering your fireplace helps keep warm air in and cold air out during the colder months. A closed fireplace does the reverse during the summer, so your air conditioner doesn't have to work as hard.
That said, it is industry standard that there is a minimum clearance of at least 36 inches between the wood-burning stove and furniture, walls, and tapestry that aren't made from combustible materials. This minimum also goes for any other flammable objects that you may have nearby.
Usually recommendations for distances to non-combustibles are between 5cm and 15cm. To combustible materials we are looking at far more (often 40-80cm).

Fireplace Opening Clearance Requirements

Side Wall Mounting
If wall space above the wood burner is limited, consider a side wall mount. Ensure the TV is not directly exposed to the heat emitted by the stove. A suitable distance would be at least 12 inches from the side of the stove.
