It's possible to mimic natural airflow in a room without windows by using two fans at once. To cool a room with two fans, position one fan out, toward the doorway. Directly across from the first fan, position a second fan pointing upward toward the ceiling.
The Fan-and-Ice Trick
It requires a fan and a bowl of ice packs or ice cubes. When the fan blows past the bowl of ice, the air is a little chillier, and if the fan is powerful enough, it can even create a rather enjoyable mist effect.
Even without an open window, fans can improve air flow. Point fans away from people. Pointing fans toward people can blow contaminated air directly at them. Use ceiling fans to help improve air flow in the home whether or not windows are open.
Passive ventilation can be as simple as an open window or a vent in a wall that allows air to move in and out of the building. Passive ventilation does not require energy, but it can still have a cost.
One way to use a portable air conditioner without a window is to vent it through a drop ceiling by removing a tile and placing the ceiling vent kit's metal insert in that spot to guarantee a snug fit.
Combine ice and fans
It might look like a strange solution, but it can be very effective for cooling the air quickly. Position a shallow bowl of ice, ice packs or a frozen hot water bottle behind your fan, and it will soon spread the cool temperatures around your room.
According to the GHI, placing a bucket of ice in front of a fan as a homemade AC unit is just as effective. 'As the air passes over the ice it will be chilled and will circulate refreshingly cold air around the room,' they explain.
Lay the cloth over the fan. As it blows the air out, it'll circulate through the cloth and the air will feel cooler. Make sure that the cloth cannot get caught on the fan in any way at all––if this is a possibility, don't use this method. Replace the cloth frequently, as they dry out.
In theory, keeping a bucket of water in your room helps to keep it cool as the air absorbs the water from the bucket as it evaporates, reducing the temperature.
There are different types of ACs that can work in windowless rooms, such as central air, evaporative coolers, through-the-wall, and ductless mini-split air conditioners.
Place a fan in one window facing out, so the air in the room is being blown out the window. You'll want to make this fit as well as possible, so there's no space open in the window–the fan should cover the open window space. In my kids' room, they have a window that opens up, which is ideal.
Direction is also key: the fan should face inward, so it draws the cooler air into your abode and blows it in your direction. Try putting a separate window fan on the other side of your home as well, if you have a window there.
The salt will lower the freezing point, causing the ice to melt slower and keeping your drinks colder for longer. You can also use salt to melt ice that has already formed. Simply sprinkle salt on top of the ice and watch as it melts. The salt will disrupt the ice crystals and cause them to melt faster.
There are several potential reasons why one room may be significantly warmer than the rest. These can include inadequate air flow, poor insulation, or even the placement and size of the AC unit. It's also important to consider external factors such as sunlight exposure and window efficiency.
While portable air conditioners can be effective at cooling most of the room, their efficiency is limited by the way they operate. Venting the hot air outside through the duct results in lower air pressure in the room, so more warm air is drawn in from the rest of the house.
Install Ducted Ventilation Systems
For rooms without windows, ducted ventilation systems are a good option. These systems include ducts that are put in place to bring in outside air and distribute it throughout the space. To keep the flow going continuously, the air is then pushed through another set of ducts.
