Use Pledge® Moisturizing Oil to clean wood kitchen cabinets, windowsills, decorative trim, tables, chairs and more*. Or, get this: You can use it on your leather shoes. Try that on for size. *Safe to use only on finished, sealed surfaces.
Pledge, which contains silicone, will not harm or otherwise damage wood or clear coats. However, it does present real problems if you ever need to have touch up repairs or refinishing done to the item. Silicone creates a very slick surface tension, which repels any product applied over it.
YEAH, Pledge did get rid of the grease! In the photo it looks a little streaky, but without the flash of light on it, it just looks clean. Even in the flash I think it looks pretty good, I like a nice shiny look. I also tested it on the stainless steal appliances that we have.
Try mixing a weak solution of water and dishwashing soap. Dip a soft cloth in the solution, wring it out and wipe the entire piece. You want a damp cloth, not a wet one. Don't saturate the wood, and rinse your cloth often.
Mix 1 cup Olive Oil and 1/2 cup lemon juice . Pour this mix on a soft piece of cloth and gently rub it on the furniture in circular motion. If the wood looks dry, let the mix set on the surface and then pour some more polish on the cloth and buff the dull surface to shiny one.
If you're dusting or cleaning your table, in additional to other wood furniture or knickknacks, a multipurpose solution like Murphy® Oil Soap Orange Oil Cleaner can do the trick. Real Simple recommends spraying or applying your product onto a dusting cloth instead of the surface itself.
Mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water and pour it into a spray bottle. Mist on cabinets, let sit for a minute or two and then wipe clean with a soft cloth. Add a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to the vinegar and water solution to clean extremely grimy cabinets.
Combine 1/4 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of water warm water to make a cleaning solution if you need to clean only a small area. For larger areas, use 1 cup of vinegar to every 1 gallon of water.
Breathe new life into your home. Bring out new sparkle in old heirlooms, or add intense shine to upcycled pieces with Pledge® Restoring Oil. A nourishing mix of key conditioners and revitalizing orange oil will revive any type of wood surface, sealed or unsealed, leaving you and your home feeling as good as new.
To maintain the oiled wood veneer, very lightly brush wood areas with a fine Scotchbrite pad moving in the direction of the grain to open the pores of the wood and remove fingerprints and dirt. Never use wax-based products (Pledge, Endust), aerosol-powered cleaners, polishes, waxes, abrasive cleaners, or oily polishes.
Gently scrub your board with a sponge and hot, soapy water (we recommend using a mild unscented dish soap, such as Seventh Generation Free & Clear Dish Liquid). It's important to wash both sides of the board (even if you chopped on only one side) to prevent it from drying unevenly, which could cause the board to warp.
For a wood coated with a hard surface, like wooden furniture, Windex is completely harmless. If it is sprayed on and kept dry, it will leave a water spot, which could be cleaned off. It won't damage your furniture when used as a cleaner.
To clean ingrained dirt from wood, first determine the type of seal it has. If the wood is varnished use a damp cloth and dish soap. For untreated wood begin with a damp cloth and if the dirt is more stubborn wipe over gently with a mixture of equal parts oil, turpentine and white vinegar. Allow to dry and then buff.
It cleaned wood like a champ, removed all fingerprints, dirt and grime. It didn't leave it with a high gloss shine like a traditional furniture polish did, but clean and kinda shiny is ok by us.
Pledge furniture polish removes accumulated grime from furniture pieces to revitalize their finishes. Pledge contains lemon oil to protect wood surfaces from moisture-related damage and increase longevity. You can regularly clean and polish wood furniture using Pledge and basic supplies.
Product information. Pledge Beautify It Enhancing Polish improves the appearance of sealed, hard surfaces by removing dust and fingerprints and providing a protective, glossy coating without leaving a waxy buildup. It enhances furniture by adding both a beautiful shine and protection to hard surfaces.
Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Dampen a soft cotton, lint-free cloth with the solution and use it to wipe the surface of the table to break down and remove the wax buildup.
Waxing should only be done twice a year for furniture that gets heavy wear, such as chair arms and desktops, and every three to four years for items such as table and chair legs. If you can't buff a surface to a sheen, you can assume the wax has worn off and it's ready for another application.
When I had wood paneling I used Old English Oil or Pledge to keep it nice looking. Pledge orange oil. It cleans, polishes, and smells so good.
