We advise not to right away, but within the same week of repotting is fine. The Soil should be slightly, naturally moist, so water when the top few inches feel dry as per normal. If you have treated your plant, it shouldn't be a problem again. Lastly do not fertilise your plant after root rot for a few months!
Once established, root rot is hard to treat. The best you can do is remove the parts of the plant that are dying (including the roots) and provide it with fresh soil. If the root rot is widespread and has affected most of the plant's roots and foliage, the plant may be beyond saving.
Repot with new soil.
Fresh soil will help guarantee that any bacteria or fungus that might have formed will be mostly removed. It'll also supply nutrients that may have been depleted in the old soil and help the plant recover. Keep in mind that the plant is likely already stressed and vulnerable due to root rot.
Hydrogen peroxide can help to control fungal growth and fungal infection, such as root rot, by preventing the growth of fungi. It can also help kill fungus and bacteria on plant roots.
Leaves begin to wilt and turn yellow or fall off, growth slows, and blooming may be delayed. In the most extreme cases, when conditions are ideal for the fungus to spread quickly, plants can die within 10 days.
Signs of root rot are slow growth, mushy stems, and wilting, yellow, distorted leaves (especially when the plant has been well watered, as wilting leaves can also be a sign of a dry plant). Usually the soil will smell rotten and the roots will appear to be reddish brown.
Depending on the circumstances and severity of over-watering your roots may need more time for recovery than others! The good news is that most plants will bounce back between 7-14 days if they're given proper care (which includes rehydration).
It is possible to save plants with root rot but you've got to move quickly. It's all about how fast you can get rid of any rot and dry the roots.
Can you reuse soil with root rot? We recommend sterilizing the soil before reusing the soil. This will ensure there were no diseases or fungus that were growing in the soil while the roots were rotting. Once the soil is sterilized, mix with new potting soil 50/50.
Apart from being more mindful of how often and how much water you give your plants and plant roots, you can also use a mixture of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide concentration mixed in 1 quart of water once a week to encourage healthy root growth in your plants' roots or treat the spread of root rot and root decay.
Another product that'll help prevent the spread of root rot is non-flavoured cinnamon. After having removed the dead roots, sprinkle a thin layer onto the healthy tissue before placing into a bed of new compost.
Is root rot contagious? Unfortunately yes, root rot can be transferred from one plant to another. The fungal spores are airborne and can also be transported by insects as well as dirty gardening tools.
If the soil smells bad (like a swamp) or slightly sulphurous, that's another good indication that you may have some rot to deal with.
Apply high-quality fungicides specifically labeled for control or suppression of Take-all Root Rot applied in 14-day intervals during the spring (2), and 28-day intervals in fall (2). Topdress areas of infection with high-quality compost in the spring and fall for 2-3 years. Mushroom compost is recommended.
Correcting a root rot issue from one or many sources can be achieved through a treatment and/or normal cleaning and maintenance routine. Its important to note not all damage will repair, roots will regrow but almost dead or weak/wilted stalk and buds, leaves probably repair and should be removed.
It is perfectly safe for plants when properly diluted and used in moderation. Adding hydrogen peroxide to water promotes better growth in plants and boosts roots ability to absorb nutrients from the soil. Diluted 3% peroxide adds needed aeration to the soil of plants and helps control fungus in the soil.
Most root rot fungi prefer wet soil conditions and some, such as Pythium and Phytophthora, produce spores that can survive for long periods in soil.

Keeping your planters at or below 75 degrees can make all the difference in stopping root rot in its tracks—or in preventing it in the first place.
Too much water also creates favorable conditions for the growth of soil-borne water molds and fungi. These soil-borne pathogens infect the roots, and they cause the roots to decay. Soil-borne water molds such as Pythium, and fungi such as Fusarium, are the usual culprits of root rot.
Hydrogen peroxide or bleach can be used to sterilize the soil and kill the fungus spores.
