If you purchase a 100% keyless systems such as Yale's Assure Lock SL, you may want to keep your old door lock and keys around just incase you want to swap them back out. But certainly with this system, you're not able to rekey the lock… because there isn't one!
Re-keying SmartKey locks requires only three items and entails three easy steps. Users must have their functioning key, a SmartKey Learn Tool, and a new Kwikset key. First, insert the functioning key and turn it ¼-turn clockwise. Then, insert and remove the SmartKey learn tool.
Rekeying Home Locks

Even a 5- or 6-digit PIN is exponentially safer than a 4-digit code – as long as it's not 123456. From then on, the Lock Screen will show you the numeric keypad when it asks for your passcode. For ultimate safety, I recommend a password that's a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.
One common question is, are smart locks worth the investment? Overall, yes, smart locks have multiple advantages that are worth your investment. Despite having a relatively higher price than traditional deadbolts, smart locks are more convenient and they provide advanced security features that can keep your home safe.
Kwikset smartkey locks are certified Grade 1 security for residential use by the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association and are advertised by Kwikset as being invulnerable to being hacked with wires, screwdrivers, or anything else inserted in the keyway.
To rekey the Electronic Deadbolt is not too difficult. Is remove the inside plate, inside cover. Remove the cover, disconnect the battery. A nine-volt battery, very simple.
Although the Eufy Smart Lock does not work with Apple HomeKit, you can still similarly control all of your Eufy devices in the same place on your smartphone from the Eufy App like the HomeKit offers for their compatible products.
Rekeying a lock does not hurt the security of the lock, nor does it make it more secure. One of the factors that makes a lock secure is how many pins are inside of it. As long as the locksmith swaps the old 5 pins with 5 new ones, the lock will remain just as secure as it was before.
