From what I've read, people have had mostly good results from putting the record between 2 13" panes of glass in the oven at 150° F for an hour and then letting it cool in the oven before taking it out.

While the most common factor is dirt or dust on the record, you may also have a problem with the balance. If the arm or the stylus cartridge is not balanced properly, then you may need to improve the balance.
