A: Yes you can It's soap so it is fine. I have used on Vinyl floor with no issues a capful at a time cleans floor you do not need much.
DO NOT use All-Purpose or Multi-Purpose cleaners, detergents, abrasive cleaners or “mop and shine” type products (such as Bleach, Pine-Sol, Clorox Soft Scrub, Fabuloso, Rejuvenate, Mop & Glo, Mr. Clean, Murphy's Oil Soap and similar, unapproved cleaners), as they will dull the finish and sheen of the flooring material.
Clean off general surface dirt with vinegar. White vinegar or apple cider vinegar (without the mother) cuts through grime. It's an excellent option to spiff up your vinyl floor without chemicals. Vinegar is also great for removing any floor stickiness.
You should absolutely NOT use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean your wood floors!
Whether you're cleaning one area or all of your flooring, Murphy® Oil Soap is safe to use on hardwood floors.
For heavy cleaning, dilute 1/2 cup Murphy per gallon. Clean well with wrung-out mop, and mop any excess water. No visible residue, no rinsing required.
Never use Murphy Oil Soap or similar products to damp mop wood or laminated floors. Oil soaps leave a film on floors that dull and damage the finish. Remove the film by mopping with one-half cup distilled white vinegar per gallon of water and a clean terry towel.
Do NOT clean your floors with Murphy's Oil Soap, Mop and Glo, Orange Glo, Swiffer Wet Mop, furniture polish such as Pledge, vinegar, ammonia, or any pine cleaners! All of these cleaners, over time, will dull and damage the finish.
When diluted properly, Murphy® Oil Soap Original Formula does not leave a residue. Despite the fact that it is called "oil soap," there is no "free oil" left behind. If you see a residue after applying Murphy® Oil Soap for the first time, it's likely that another cleaner was previously used.
Vinyl Flooring “Don'ts”
Don't use wax or solvent-based polishes. Don't use ammonia or ammonia-based cleaning solutions. Ammonia can break down the vinyl and cause it to crack.
Never use a detergent that is abrasive. Vinegar or “mop and shine” products may leave a film on your film, rather than give you that shiny floor that you seek. Never use a wax polish. Never use an abrasive scrubbing tool on your floor.
Add a bit of baking soda to your regular floor cleaner to help keep the vinyl fresh, smooth, and shiny. Applying a small amount of WD-40 lubricant is a safe way to remove any scratches or scuffs without damaging the vinyl. You can also use a bit of jojoba oil to gently polish vinyl floors.
To add shine to your vinyl floor, add a few drops of baby oil to the vinegar and water solution. For stains you can use a mixture of baking soda and water that is a natural way of cleaning. As far as commercial cleaners, there are many to choose from.
Record Washing
Simply put a few drops of dish soap into a tub of water. Avoid using tap water if you are creating your own solution. This will help to keep minerals that could damage the vinyl away from the records that you are cleaning. Di-ionized or distilled water is ideal for cleaning records.
Remove grease from vinyl floors with Dawn dish soap
If a vinegar solution or dish soap mixture doesn't quite cut it when cleaning the vinyl floors in your kitchen, then you might want to upgrade your cleaning solution to include Dawn dish soap.
First off, Murphy's Oil soap is oil. It leaves OIL on the finish (water evaporates....the soap and oil residue does NOT). This oil can and WILL penetrate THROUGH the poly and onto/into the wood. The worst that can happen: your floors will never take more finish again....
Murphy Oil Soap is specially designed to clean both finished wood and non-wood surfaces so they maintain their beautiful shine at all times.
Dish lotions, laundry detergents, Murphy Oil Soap cleaners should not be used to maintain your flooring. Never wax, polish, buff, and or lacquer** floors. For furnishings, use wide-bearing, non-staining floor protectors, such as clear, hard plastic or non-staining felt protectors for heavy furnishings.
SPOT CLEAN WHILE IT'S SOFT
Use an antibacterial cleaning solution or vinegar to spot clean the floors and lift hardened grease. Employ a natural cleaner like Murphy® Oil Soap Squirt & Mop Floor Cleaner on a regular basis to keep floors free of dirt and grime before it sets in.
Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dirt & grit that can scratch the floor and wipe up all spills promptly and thoroughly with a damp cloth or mop, washing with a mild detergent when needed. You can restore your floor's original gloss by vacuuming, washing & applying 2-3 coats of floor restoring polish.
Oil-based cleaning products can leave streaks and residue, or damage the protective sealant of the floors. If you use laminate cleaner, do so sparingly and apply it to the mop or microfiber cloth rather than directly to the floor. Never use wax or polishes on laminate floors.
Rubbing alcohol – great for cleaning and removal of stains. Vinegar – is a great all-purpose cleaner, disinfectant, and shine improver. We only use a small amount of vinegar and never let it 'sit' on the laminate.
