White vinegar: This is a classic household cleaning hero and it's great for cutting through soap scum and hard water stains. Mix it with warm water in a spray bottle, and you've got an effective, safe cleaner that won't harm your tub. Baking soda: This is a gentle abrasive that works wonders on stubborn spots.
The single most common problem with caring for plexiglass acrylic is the use of incorrect cleaning solutions. To get the maximum life out of your plexiglass, never, ever use cleaning solution that contains ammonia to clean your plastic. Cleaners such as Windex or 409 will do more harm than good.
1. Wipe the surface of the acrylic with dish soap or a solution of equal parts vinegar and water using a damp TUB SCRUB CLOTH OR SPONGE. Harsh chemicals should not be used as they can damage the surface and affect your water chemistry. 2.
Acrylic sheeting can be damaged by harsh solvents and cleaners. Use a commercial plastic cleaner or mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris. When applying cleaner, use a non-abrasive lint-free or microfiber cloth that won't scratch the surface.
For acrylic bathtubs
Our 7-step bathtub cleaning guide will work well for acrylic tubs, since baking soda and Dawn Dish Soap are considered to be gentle cleaning solutions.
Wash on a gentle cycle with warm or cool water. You can also hand-wash your acrylic clothing, if desired. Lay Flat to Dry—Though acrylic is relatively durable and resistant to abrasion, it may lose its shape or stretch if placed in the dryer. It could also be left with permanent wrinkles if not properly dried.
Shell Surface Care
For normal cleaning of a dry spa, use a mild, diluted, dishwashing soap, window cleaner, or specific spa surface cleaning products recommended by your local authorized dealer.
4. For stubborn stains, you can use a magic eraser sponge, these are safe to use and will not damage the surface of your tub. 5. Bacteria does not naturally live on the smooth acrylic surfaces, but if you are concerned, a mild anti-bacterial liquid or gel can also be used on a soft cloth.
Baking Soda and Dish Soap Paste: Create a paste using equal parts baking soda and a mild dish soap. Apply the paste to the stained areas, gently scrub with a soft sponge, and rinse the tub This method works well for most surfaces, including acrylic, fiberglass, and porcelain, without scratching the finish.
What do we use when cleaning our display frame acrylic windows? Sprayway. When Cleaning Picture Frames and Display Frames, we recommended using a non-ammonia based window cleaner. Ammonia-free Sprayway is a good choice.
DO NOT USE acidic or abrasive materials on acrylic shower walls or shower glass, including harsh chemical cleaners and steel wool. To disinfect your shower, use a diluted bleach solution of 1/2 cup bleach per gallon of water.

Chemicals we do not recommend using to clean acrylic showers/tubs: Solvents (turpentine, lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, paint thinner, MEK ((Methyl Ethyl Ketone, also known as Butanone)), xylene, acetone, naphtha, etc.) Simple Green® All-Purpose Cleaner. Pine-Sol® Original.
An excellent example of one that works well is Dawn dish soap. Dawn is gentle enough to use on acrylic surfaces and could help cut through the dirt and grime. Certain types of CLR are gentle enough as well, but it's essential that you read the labels and do your research before using these supplies all over your tub.
Many acrylic tub manufacturers warn against using bleach or other abrasive cleaners as this “may void the warranty” on your bathtub. This is a fair point, and certainly something to consider when trying to protect your investment.
*NEVER USE ANY WINDEX OR AMMONIA AS THIS CAN DAMAGE YOUR SHELL*. Dilute a drop of SoftScrub in a small tub of water & gently wipe away stains & water lines. Do not scrub too hard as you may risk scratching your shell if there are any particles on your rag.
A small amount of white vinegar is safe to use as a cleaning product on your acrylic spa shell. You should always test a small inconspicuous area before using vinegar on the entire surface. Vinegar is a mild acid, so it can be used to dissolve calcium and white scale deposits in your spa as well as oily film.
This is where dish soap comes into play. Its potent formula acts as an effective solvent, dissolving the residues that tarnish the appearance of your bathtub, making it the ideal candidate for your nighttime cleaning ritual.
Whether you opt for hot, soapy water or an acrylic cleaner, be gentle and only use light pressure as you wipe. Too much pressure can actually cause scratching. Use a dry soft cotton cloth to dry off the acrylic. Give it a little buff or polish with this cloth too.
Acrylic paints are not messy and clean up easily with soap and water.
Acrylic's biggest drawback is its tendency to pill. Blends will do this less than pure acrylic. Dry-clean acrylic garments, or wash them by hand or in the machine. Turn garments inside out before laundering to reduce pilling.
