Hi - yes it would be safe to use a Brillo pad but I recommend using aluminium foil scrunched into a ball. It makes an effective scouring pad and will not scratch also works very on chrome oven racks.
For really big jobs, you might consider a cleaning stone (also called a pumice stick or scouring stick). These are 100% natural scouring stones (shaped in a block or stick) that safely scour away even the worst build-up. They are safe for most ovens, although you may want to check your ovens' owner's manual to be sure.

Plastic, like wood, is extremely susceptible to scratches and discolouration, which is why cleaning it with SOS pads is a bad idea. The scrubber will scratch plastic furniture, utensils, switches, appliances and other plastic surfaces/fixtures.
Tip #2 – Choose your cleaner
That means no using a scrub brush or brillo pad or copper pad. If you really have some stuck/burnt on gunk then either use a razor blade to scrape it off gently or use a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda.

Light smudges and spills can be removed with vinegar or glass cleaner. The inner glass comes into contact with more food and possible spills and is more likely to need a deeper clean than the outer glass. Combine baking soda and water in a bowl and stir until it forms a paste.

Scrub the entire oven, including the interior door glass, with an SOS® pad. If there is excess burnt-on grease, you may need to repeat these steps as the oven cleaner works in layers. (If you haven't cleaned your oven in a while, this might be the case.)
Sprinkle baking soda over them and spray with vinegar. Wait for the foaming reaction and then soak in hot water for a few hours. This will loosen any grease and grime which you can then scrub off more easily. Put the oven racks back in your sparkling clean oven and sit back with a much-deserved cuppa and a cake!
We use only non-scratch scouring pads to clean oven glass. Avoid using normal green and yellow sponge scourers or brillo pads as they can scratch your glass. Glass scratches are not only unsightly but it can lead to the glass being weakened and shattering.
