Being at the very top of door lock brands, you can take both Schlage and Weiser locks in consideration when choosing a lock for your purposes. Just don't forget that you are probably not going to succeed in re-keying Schlage with Weiser keys and vice versa, since their keyways are different.
The Weiser App is exclusively for use with Aura and Halo smart locks.
Kwikset is part of Hardware and Home Improvement (HHI), a major manufacturer and supplier of residential locksets, residential builders' hardware and faucets with a portfolio of renowned brands, including Kwikset®, Weiser®, Baldwin®, National Hardware®, Stanley®, FANAL®, Pfister™ and EZSET®.
When it comes to quality, security and style, both brands go hand in hand. Their traditional lines of door hardware are equally secure and durable. Weiser has become more popular for its high-quality residential locks, whereas Schlage is more popular for its durable commercial door hardware.
Since most homes have multiple doors with multiple locks, re-keying can get expensive. You can re-key a lock like a pro at a fraction of the cost. Re-keying kits are available for most lock brands but they're not interchangeable. You must buy a kit for each brand of lock in your home.
Schlage Rekeying Kits provide everything you need to get the job done—including all the tools and parts you need for repinning the cylinders of most Schlage locksets so that they work with a single key.
In 2009, Weiser introduced SmartKey. SmartKey technology is more secure than a traditional pin and tumbler lock. SmartKey re-key technology provides additional security: SmartKey is available in an ANSI Grade 1 deadbolt- certified the highest level of residential security.
Also in the non-forced entry category, there is no doubt Schlage is better. With a better, more precise manufacturing process and 2 additional security pins than the Kwikset deadbolt, Schlage locks are significantly harder to pick, bump or compromise in non-destructive ways.
You will not be able to use your current Schlage keys in your new Yale lock. We can custom cut new Yale SC1 keys (available at checkout) to your existing Schlage SC1 keyway number, so you can use one set of keys in both your new Yale locks, and existing locks with SC1 keyways.
The keyway is compatible with Weiser, Kwikset and Weslock.
Weiser's Home Connect Technology enables your Weiser door lock to wirelessly communicate with other devices in your home. Schlage Sense works with HomeKit for controlling your lock using Siri. Schlage Connect is designed for Alexa and Z-Wave integration. Schlage Encode is a WiFi lock that doesn't require a hub. Buying the right lock is essential since if you get one that doesn't work with your set up, you will feel a little stuck.
Use the Schlage Sense app to pair it with your deadbolt and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network for anywhere access. After you have downloaded the Schlage Sense app and paired it with your lock using the Schlage mode setup, you can quickly and easily set up your Wi-Fi Adapter.
When stacking up Nest and Schlage, all of the locks have touchscreen keypads so you can set up door codes and don't have to use the app and can easily give access to guests. Each lock has its pros and cons depending on your smart home setup. The Nest app makes this very easy to use.
Weiser offers the high-security ANSI Grade 1 Collections Deadbolt which features SmartKey™ technology and BumpGuard™, in addition to the ANSI Grade 2 Welcome Home Deadbolt and the ANSI Grade 3 Elements deadbolt. The patented design of SmartKey provides enhanced protection against lock bumping!
A: SmartKey locks can only be re-keyed if you have the current functioning key and the SmartKey Learn Tool. If someone does not have the current functioning key, then that person will not be able to re-key your locks.
In most cases, a locksmith can rekey your locks even if you've lost or misplaced the original key. He/she can either shim or pick the lock in order to unlock the door. When rekeying a lock cylinder, the locksmith will have an easier time removing the lock cylinder after bringing the lock to the “unlock” position.
Rekeying your lock is almost always cheaper than replacing a lock. This is because of the cheaper price of the key pins inside the locks, whereas when you replace a lock, you are paying for all brand-new parts.
You can have your keys replicated anywhere.
