A: I would not use a Magic Eraser in a hot tub with water because Magic Eraser dissolves as it is used up and that would be left in the water. It would be fine in cleaning a dry fiberglass hot tub.
To use the Magic Eraser you simply wet it and squeeze it, then rub it on the surface you want to clean. Check that the surface you're cleaning is suitable first, of course. They're fine on plastic baths.
What can I use to clean the inside of my hot tub? To clean the inside of your hot tub shell, use a specialized hot tub cleaner, a mixture of one part white vinegar to four parts water, or a mixture of one part bleach to ten parts water.
Dilute a drop of SoftScrub in a small tub of water & gently wipe away stains & water lines. Do not scrub too hard as you may risk scratching your shell if there are any particles on your rag. A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser also works really well to eliminate water lines!
STEP FOUR: RINSE AND RETIRE.
Before you retire to the couch, rinse out your Magic Eraser and give your newly freshened surfaces a water wipe down, too. If what you cleaned will come in contact with food, you'll need to wipe it with a wet rag or paper towel, so it will be ready for the next time you meet again.
You shouldn't use it on dishes or something you eat off of as bits of the polymer are left behind. You should avoid formulas with added fragrance or bleach. We highly recommend using a surface cleaner and a soft cloth. Or, for stubborn marks, try a tub scrubber. Top tip: Never clean your spa with regular household cleaning products. They're rarely pH neutral and may damage the shell or cause water issues.
Diluted white vinegar is great, but you can also use lemon juice, CLR, or other similar acetic solutions to clean and dissolved calcium build-up. You could even use muriatic acid, but be careful. At Royal Spa, we prefer to use acid-based pH down.
Fill the tub with hot water a few inches above the jets. Depending on the tub size, add anywhere from 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup of mild dish detergent. Once the detergent dissolves, add 2 cups of distilled white vinegar. Close the valves (if allowed by the manufacturer) and run the jets for 15 minutes.
Magic erasers can actually be used dry, but adding a little water to the sponge will help it absorb dirt more easily, much like wetting a towel before wiping down counters. After you wet the eraser, squeeze out any excess water, just like you would with a regular sponge.

You should not worry about chlorine reactions with the Magic Eraser. Such reactions are minimal due to the polymer itself, and the very low chlorine concentration makes any such reactions occur very slowly.
Spray the entire surface with full strength Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner. Scrub the entire tub with a nylon scrub brush or non-abrasive scrubbing pad. This will agitate and help loosen the dirt and grime to ensure a squeaky clean, residue-free surface.
The other popular do between your hot tub and vinegar is, of course, cleaning. Since it's naturally acidic, it will easily wipe away the build-up, water scaling and more that builds up in your hot tub over time. It's also harmless to the water, too, in case of any residue left over.
For stubborn stains, you can use a magic eraser sponge, these are safe to use and will not damage the surface of your tub.
If you are looking to disinfect your spa, we're sorry to say that bleach has virtually no disinfecting abilities if chlorine is present in the water. To make matters even worse, bleach will likely throw off the pH of your water and lead to dry, itchy skin for users.
The health and safety warning on a Magic Eraser box reads, “DO NOT USE ON SKIN OR OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY. USING ON SKIN WILL LIKELY CAUSE ABRASIONS.
