You can shower all you want, but it will not kill a tick. Cold, warm, and even hot water has a hard time killing ticks. However, this doesn't mean that a shower isn't effective. In fact, showering gives you a great chance to look for ticks.
Showering within two hours of coming indoors has been shown to reduce your risk of getting Lyme disease and may be effective in reducing the risk of other tickborne diseases. Showering may help wash off unattached ticks and it is a good opportunity to do a tick check.
Although ticks can survive in hot water, to an extent, once the water gets above 130°F, the tick's chance of survival drops close to zero.
Avoid folklore remedies such as “painting” the tick with nail polish or petroleum jelly, or using heat to make the tick detach from the skin. Your goal is to remove the tick as quickly as possible–not waiting for it to detach.

Should You Squish A Tick? We at Accurate Pest Control recommend that you never squeeze a tick as it will force the tick's contents to go back into the host. Not only is this disgusting, but it can also be hazardous.
First and foremost, a tick “nest” isn't really a nest at all. Rather than making a nest, female ticks opt to lay their eggs anywhere they please. This is usually a soft spot, such as a plot of soil or within blades of grass. What might be called a “nest” is simply a mass of sticky eggs.

Make an apple cider vinegar (ACV) solution.
This diluted solution is powerful enough to deal with fleas and ticks, but not so strong that you will be able to smell it.
Garlic, sage, mint, lavender, beautyberry, rosemary and marigolds are some of the most familiar and effective tick-repelling plants, and they are great to use in landscaping borders around decks, walkways, pet runs, patios and other areas to keep ticks away.
