Common reasons your Whirlpool Washer control lock won't turn off. The most common reasons your Whirlpool washer control lock won't turn off are a defective control panel, malfunctioning electronic control board, or a failed door switch.
To remove the control lock, you should just need to press and hold the control lock button in the bottom right corner of your control panel for 5 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the washer for 5 minutes and then plug it back in and try to hold the button again.
Make sure the dishwasher is in Standby mode (no cycle running). Press the "Heated Dry," and "Normal," buttons one after the other, twice. After entering the correct button sequence, the control panel should light up as the dishwasher begins the reset. Allow the process to continue until it automatically shuts off.
If unplugging the washer for 60 seconds doesn't work, try this: plug the washer back in and leave it for about 20 minutes. This gives the machine time to complete any unfinished cycles and unlock the door.
Press the "control lock" button for three seconds. The door should unlock. If the control lock button doesn't work, try the "end of cycle" button to reset the washer. If the above steps fail, completely reset the machine by unplugging it for an hour.
Overriding the Locking Mechanism with a Magnet
Placing a separate magnet there will create a stable electromagnetic connection with the solenoid and “trick” the machine into thinking that the lid is closed when it's really open. Any type of small magnet should do the trick.
Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel / Accessibility Options /Keyboard Options. b. Turn off CTRL lock if it's on.
Loc: Whirlpool oven error code “loc” indicates that the control lock setting is activated. This setting deactivates all oven controls and locks the door. To turn the control lock setting off, press and hold the START button for 3 seconds. If this doesn't work, turn the oven off at the circuit breaker for 1 minute.
All you should need to do is press and hold the control lock button for 5 seconds, and the control lock should remove so you can use the dishwasher like normal again. If you can't locate the control lock button, press and hold each button one at a time until the control lock has been removed.
The most common cause of a Whirlpool washer door being locked and not being able to open is a faulty lid switch (including the striker). The door switch locks and unlocks your door depending on which stage your wash cycle is at. When it becomes defective, your washer door may not unlock when it's supposed to.
To Lock/Unlock Control
Touch and hold START/ENTER for 5 seconds. A single tone will sound, “LOC” will appear on the display. “LOC” will also appear whenever any command pad is pressed while the control is locked. Repeat to unlock.
Give the solenoid a pulse of power and that switch pops closed. Give it another pulse, and it pops open. The board has cut off its quick pulse of Neutral to the lid lock solenoid, and the solenoid as done its job: the lid lock switch is closed.
Cycle power to the control to reset the washer:
If your washer is plugged into an outlet, simply unplug the unit for one minute and then plug the unit back in.
To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes. For models that have a timer control knob, turn the knob around and back to any position other than final spin for the interrupted cycle. Then, restore power.
Water left in the machine is also a common cause of a locked washing machine door. Running a spin/drain cycle can often fix this issue, but if it fails, the machine may need to be drained manually. The door catch, handle, or some part of the door catch mechanism may be broken, preventing the door from opening.
