Why you shouldn't put dish soap in your toilet
“It ruins your system, so don't do it,” wrote one person, and another added, “Please don't do this - the rubber/seals in your toilet cistern can break down when anything else but water is used in there.”
That's right: Grab your dish soap and a broom, and you might be as pleasantly surprised as we were to learn that Dawn is apparently just as effective at banishing bathtub scum as it is at removing all that grime and grease from your dishes and pans. Plus, this technique is equal parts simple and fast!
This is Why it Works
It's pretty simple — just like they do on food particles that are stuck to your dishes in the sink, the combination of hot water and dish soap help to dissolve and break up whatever it may be that is lodged in the toilet causing a clog. This handy tip is great should you find yourself in a pinch.
UNCLOGGING TOILETS
Pour a cup of Dawn liquid dish detergent into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, pour a bucket of hot water from waist height into the toilet bowl to clear it out.
Dish soap is a great solution to unclog toilets given that it works by lubricating and breaking down the clogs. Dawn for a clogged toilet works by breaking down the grease in the clog then lubricating it down the drain. Being heavier than water, dish soap will go to the bottom of the bowl and to the clog.
Baking soda, vinegar and Dawn dish soap along with boiling water can safely unclog a drain. Baking soda, vinegar and Dawn dish soap along with boiling water can safely unclog a drain.
Garlic, your answer to clean toilets
—garlic can be a very useful addition to your toilet cleaning products. In fact, it contains a substance called allicin—which you can credit for garlic's distinctive aroma—that keeps bacteria and fungi at bay.
Combine 2 parts borax with 1 part lemon juice to form a paste. Smear the paste onto any remaining stains in the bowl, such as the ring formed around the waterline. Borax cleans while lemon juice whitens. Leave the paste to soak for two hours to lighten stains and whiten the bowl.
A fresh clove of garlic placed beneath a pillow is believed to bestow a calming effect on the nervous system, thanks to the sulphurous compounds which are released from the garlic. Of course, the garlicky scent may take some getting used to, but it's surely worth it for a good night's sleep!
Coke. Coke is a lesser-known fix you can find in your refrigerator. Pour a 2-liter bottle of cola — Pepsi, Coke, or generic brand substitutes — down the clogged drain. Coke is actually quite caustic and effective at clearing away buildup in your drains, but it's far milder than commercial drain cleaners.
Pour the boiling pickle juice into sink and many have reported that this does the trick. More on the far-fetched side: Pour the very finest white or gray wood ashes from your fireplace or heater down the kitchen drain, the bathtub and sink drains, and even rinse some down the toilet from time to time.
Putting Hydrogen Peroxide Down the Drain
Most bottles of hydrogen peroxide sold in stores have a concentration of 1 or 3 percent. This substance does not require special treatment at these concentrations. You can safely pour it down the drain, and it may even clean the sink in the process.
Do NOT pour boiling water down your sink or toilet.
This can melt PVC piping and pipe seals, causing serious damage. In addition, using boiling water to clear a clogged toilet can melt the wax ring around the toilet, or even crack the porcelain bowl, leading to a pricey trip to your favorite hardware store.
So if you've tried a plunger, a hot-water flush, or even a homemade baking soda solution and things still aren't flowing like they should, it's probably time summon the snake (also known as a plumber's auger).
You can break down toilet paper with different methods such as pouring vinegar and baking soda, Epsom salt, dish soap, or RID-X. You can also decompose the clog with tools like toilet snakes or plungers.
Although the untreated cucumbers picked up a little tang from the brine, for the most part they retained their fresh cucumber flavor. The treated cucumbers, on the other hand, produced good results.
Pickle juice can soothe acid reflux and muscle cramps, possibly destroying some microbial pathogens in the digestive track.
Slicing cucumbers, which includes English cucumbers, can be used for pickles, but you might get a softer pickle. Slicing cucumbers though always can be used in relish with no hesitation, where any softness won't matter near as much.
Using Hydrogen Peroxide on a Clogged Drain
Hydrogen peroxide dissolves organic matter to loosen and flush away debris such as skin cells. It also disinfects the drain as it works by reducing germs inside your pipes and making your sinks smell fresh and clean.
Use Baking Soda and Vinegar
Baking soda and vinegar is a very powerful combination that can help clear nasty hair clogs. Besides helping dissolve hair in your drain, baking soda also has disinfectant qualities that can fight fungi and bacteria.
Plumbing snakes (also called drain cables) that are used to unclog sinks can actually scratch your porcelain toilet bowl.
It could irritate the nose
Raw garlic can irritate and inflame your skin, which can even result in dermatitis. “The oils in the garlic could lead to a rash inside the nose, broken skin and even bleeding from the nose,” Dr. Sindwani warns.

It's not because you have secret garlic taste buds on your feet. It's because the molecules responsible for garlic's smell (allicin) can penetrate your skin, get into your blood and travel to your mouth and nose, where you suddenly start to sense the taste of garlic.
