Fortune Brands Announces Agreement to Acquire Emtek and Schaub Premium Residential Hardware Brands and the U.S. and Canadian Yale and August Residential Smart Lock Brands from ASSA ABLOY.
Previously controlled by Swedish conglomerate ASSA ABLOY since 1999, Emtek and its sister brand, Schaub hardware, were acquired in 2023 by Fortune Brands Innovations.
“The proposed transaction would transform these markets, giving Assa Abloy a near-monopoly in premium mechanical door hardware and more than a 50% share in smart locks, leaving only one significant competitor,” said DOJ officials.
