Feng Shui master bedroom layout by Decorilla designer, Lori D. Placing a bed below or in front of a window is not ideal for good Feng Shui. Energy flows through glass and may keep you up at night. Instead, place your bed at an angle to the window for a positive energy placement of your Feng Shui bedroom.
If you want to wake up with the best possible energy levels, supported by the earth's magnetic fields and the proper alignment of your living space, it is best to sleep with your head to the east or sleep with your head to the south.
When you stand at your bedroom door, the far left corner that you can see is the wealth corner. You can activate the wealth corner of your room by placing purple accessories or furniture, a living green houseplant and a small flowing water fountain.
Yellow wall colour is associated with positivity and brightness. When used in the bedroom as per Vastu, a soft and muted shade of yellow can bring in warmth, happiness, and a sense of well-being. It creates a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for the walls of your bedroom in Vastu.
Bad Feng Shui in the bedroom includes clutter, mirrors facing the bed, a bed positioned in line with the door, or keeping sharp objects in the room. These can disrupt energy flow and hinder restful sleep. Electronics, water features, and beams above the bed are also considered bad Feng Shui.
To make this simpler, you can also work just with the wealth area of your bedroom or office. In this case, you would stand in the main door of the bedroom or office looking in. The far left area is the wealth corner of your bedroom or office. Once you've located the wealth area, notice what's happening there.
The North-East corner is considered the most sacred and auspicious direction in Vastu Shastra. It is known as the Ishaan corner and is associated with prosperity and positive energy. To attract wealth and prosperity, this corner should always be kept clean, clutter-free, and well-lit.
As per Vastu Shastra, growing your wealth in the earth corner of the home — the south-west — ensures financial stability. Store jewellery, money, and important financial documents in the south-west (in a cupboard or safe), facing north or north-east. Items kept in this direction tend to multiply.
Generally speaking, Feng Shui experts do not recommend placing a mirror directly across from the door leading into your room, but rather on a wall perpendicular to it. If you have placed your bed in the correct commanding position, it means the mirror won't be placed behind the bed but along the side.
Earthy Yellow, Brown, and Orange for Balance
Yellow, brown, and orange are colors connected to the earth element in feng shui, which is associated with grounding, stability, and nourishment. This makes them great colors for a bedroom, especially if you feel ungrounded.
The healthiest direction to sleep is typically considered to be east or south. East is said to promote intellectual effectiveness and south is believed to enhance quality of sleep. Which direction should I put my head while sleeping? It is generally recommended to place your head towards the east or south.
The east or north-east part of your house is perfect for meditation, yoga and other spiritual pursuits. While meditating, facing east will increase positivity.
Is it OK for your bed to face the window? It's best in feng shui if your bed is not facing or in line with a window. However, a bed facing a window is better than placing it directly beneath a window.
It is also believed that keeping specific gems in a wallet can attract wealth. Emerald, Citrine, clear and rose quartz, red coral, amber, and green jade are among the most auspicious jewels.
Attracting Money: Decorate in Red, Purple or Green
"Color has a powerful impact on mood, and red is considered auspicious and powerful. Think of walking the red carpet or wearing a red power tie," explains Laura. Purple and green are also key colors for attracting prosperity but there's a hitch.
Certain objects, like crystals, plants, and wind chimes, can enhance the flow of positive energy in your bedroom. Citrine crystals, for example, are known to attract wealth and success, while bamboo plants symbolize growth and prosperity. Place these items strategically to align with the energy flow in your room.
The house should not be built on a ridge, on a cliffside, at a river outlet, next to a bridge or highway, or at an intersection. Avoid sloping land behind the house. The most auspicious house direction in feng shui is south-facing, which is good for light, chi absorption and family harmony.
As a result, you have a greater chance of obtaining health, happiness, and prosperity if you sleep with your head facing the south, say vastu shastra proponents.
If you do nothing else, try NOT to have the bed directly facing the bedroom door. Feng shui experts say you should be facing the door but not be directly in line with it. Placing your bed on the same wall as your door is thought to feel threatening, like someone may wake you in the night.
The first rule of Feng Shui is understanding and applying the Commanding Position. This principle emphasises placing your most important furniture — like the bed, desk, or stove — in a position where you can see the door while avoiding being directly in line with it.
