Minwax Jacobean (also available here!) is a rich, dark brown color. It's similar to Dark Walnut, but a bit darker and the golden grain hues are more subtle and bit more light brown toned.
You often can substitute a look-alike wood for more than one wood species, such as alder for walnut or cherry, red gum for walnut or mahogany, and yellow poplar for a variety of woods.
Other species of oak, such as American White Oak, have a light-to-tan brown colour with a straight grain. Walnut, on the other hand, can have a characteristically sleek cream-to-chocolate brown colour — often with an alluring tinge of purple.

It only takes one coat to get a rich, deep color on poplar. I like to use red gel stain for a project that looks like it's built from cherry without the expense of the finer wood. Dark brown stain works great to create the look of walnut.

Is Dulux Just Walnut Grey or Beige? Just Walnut is a warm neutral with pink undertones, due to this it means that in some lights it can look like a light grey, and in others it has undertones of pink on display.
