Sprays that kill gnats on contact fall into three main categories: botanical (essential oil) sprays, traditional chemical aerosols, and DIY mixtures.

Luckily, there are simple ways to get rid of gnats quickly:
Hawk Soap's Mosqito Hawk Is The Best non-DEET Bug Spray For Gnats And Mosquitos.
Instructions: Pour apple cider vinegar into the jar/bowl. Add water then add just one drop of mild liquid dish detergent. Set the mixture in the area where gnats are a problem. The gnats are naturally attracted to the vinegar and the drop of soap kills them.
Fruit Trap: Place overripe fruit in a container with holes in the lid to trap gnats inside. Sticky Cards: Use yellow sticky traps near houseplants or problem areas. Candle and Water Bowl: Light a candle in a shallow bowl of water at night — gnats will be drawn to the flame and fall in.
If you just have a couple scouts checking out the accommodations—as in, the gnats aren't swarming yet—fill a spray bottle with a cup of water, a tablespoon of vinegar, and a few drops of liquid dish soap and give it a good shake. Spritz gnats in flight to put an end to the infestation before it begins.
The gnat lifespan is short but highly efficient for reproduction, allowing populations to grow rapidly. Most gnats live between seven to ten days, but their entire life cycle can vary depending on species and environmental conditions.
Summit Mosquito and Gnat Barrier spray contains permethrin, a proven residual insecticide that has been used in mosquito control for many years. In addition to mosquitoes, it also controls a wide variety of outdoor insect pests including ants, fleas, ticks, earwigs, and more.
The main trigger of a fungus gnat infestation is overwatering, because fungus gnats thrive in soggy environments. Larvae feed on decaying organic matter in moist soil. The best cure is to allow your soil to dry out between waterings. Most houseplants are happier in these conditions, so this step alone can work wonders.
Apple cider vinegar and a little liquid dish soap stir together put in shallow bowls. The smell attracts them and then they get stuck in the dish soap. Desiree Williams also baking soda and vinegar to clean the drains, then cover the drains.

The Classic Apple Cider Vinegar Trap
Apple cider vinegar's sweet smell is appealing to gnats, so you can use it to make an easy trap—a literal thirst trap, if you will. Pour a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a bowl or jar, then stir in a few drops of dish soap.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Fill a shallow container (about the size of a tuna can) with 1/4 inch of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap, and cover with plastic wrap. Poke a few holes in the top of the plastic wrap, making them large enough to allow fungus gnats to crawl through.
(Males feed on plants.) Gnats are active mostly during the day, especially around mid-morning and dusk. Biting usually peaks during a three-week period in late spring or early summer, and is usually more severe following droughts.
Inside the home, gnats can be attracted to unsealed produce, fresh flowers, houseplants, food spillage and open or overflowing garbage cans. Gnats may also live in sink drains where food residue can collect. Dirty kitchen sink drains can provide food, water, shelter and breeding sites to many fly species.
✨ To deter flies: Dab Vicks onto cotton balls or small fabric pieces and place them near trash bins, sinks, or entry points. You can also dissolve a bit of Vicks in hot water to release the scent throughout the room. ✨ To stop ants: Apply Vicks along wall cracks, around windows, and door frames.
How to Get Rid of a Gnat Infestation
Zevo uses essential oils like geraniol to kill or repel common insects like flies, ants, and roaches. It works well for light bug problems, especially if you spray it directly on pests. But don't expect it to wipe out an infestation.
1. Active Ingredients: Most mosquito repellents are formulated specifically to deter mosquitoes and may not be effective against gnats. While some repellents might contain ingredients that could repel gnats, such as citronella or essential oils, these are not always potent enough to keep gnats away effectively.
Many species are drawn to damp areas, such as overwatered plants, drains, and areas with rotting food. They are also attracted to light, especially at night. Midges and other flying gnats can swarm around outdoor lights or indoors near windows.
Fruit flies are common household pests that can be a terrible nuisance around your home. These flies are present year-round, but they are especially prolific in late summer and fall.
