Joanna loves using grays in her homes for the main living spaces. Some of her favorites are Sherwin Williams Mindful gray, Oyster Pearl, and Passive Gray. Repose Gray is one shade lighter than Mindful and would look fabulous for an open living space.
Sherwin Williams – Alabaster
Joanna painted the main living areas of her own farmhouse Alabaster and she continually uses it in homes she designs on Fixer Upper as well. It's a great color to use on walls and trim both. We painted the shiplap in Mouse House this color.

Ever since Joanna Gaines (HGTV's Fixer Upper) used SW Alabaster for her farmhouse living room, it has been a go-to paint color for shiplap.

Its popularity comes from the WIDE RANGE of projects it can be used on, including walls, exteriors, cabinets, trims, ceilings, and furniture – it's a great go-to shade of white! And while it's warm, the yellow in Alabaster isn't so obvious that it's off-putting (for most people), leaving it one of the top whites.
While much of Joanna's kitchen follows her traditional earthy color scheme, the designer has injected a notably darker hue across her kitchen cabinets – a deep, dark blue, which contrasts strongly with the softer green shiplap walls and cream countertops.

Alabaster is a soft, almost off-white paint color. It's definitely not white because of the neutral beige undertones it has, though it is close. The neutral beige undertones give this paint color a creaminess, but not too creamy.
Alabaster is a warm white, thanks to its yellow undertones. It is a great option if you're looking for a white paint color that won't look too stark (even in bright light) and will work with warm fixtures.
Sherwin-Williams Dover White SW6385
This is Erin's go-to white paint, and the one she most often use on the trim (below) of her own home. 'It makes any room feel warm and crisp,' she says. You can buy Dover White at Lowes.
SW 7057Silver Strand. This green-gray tint feels lighter than air. Cool cyan undertones give it a misty quality that freshens up any room.
The Emmie's Room- Interior Paint is fresh mint blue lightly dusted with avocado green.
Re: Paint colour to replace magnolia
In the trade a shade known as 10B15 is often called 'Gardenia' (sometimes 'Orchid') in retail. It's less brown, more creamy than magnolia.

"Although I did play Pocahontas in high school, I am not Native American. My father is half Lebanese/half German and my mother is full Korean." Joanna's parents, Jerry and Nan Stevens, actually met in Seoul, Korea, while her dad was serving overseas during Vietnam, according to the Gaineses' book, The Magnolia Story.
Other popular wall colors for white cabinets are SW Accessible Beige, BM Revere Pewter and SW Repose Gray. Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray is a good option for a gray wall color that's still warm because of it's beige undertones.
Many design experts swear that Simply White by Benjamin Moore is their go-to paint color for kitchen cabinetry. And we don't disagree, as this warm white can cozy up even the most sterile, cold kitchen layouts.
Agreeable Gray comes with an LRV of 60, while Repose Gray has an LRV of 58. Therefore, Repose Gray is slightly darker. Both colors have slight green undertones, but they can be more prominent in Repose Gray, which give it that slightly cooler feeling.
Agreeable Gray is a bit warmer than Repose, although both are warm neutrals. Agreeable Gray is a touch lighter than Repose Gray. Repose has an LRV of 58; Agreeable's LRV is 60, so there's a relatively subtle shift in depth. Agreeable Gray's undertones are more subtle than Repose Gray's.
Brass, wood tones – these are two design elements that are very on trend and Sherwin Williams Alabaster is a beautiful choice to mix with these warm tones. Warmer kitchen cabinets are also trending, and the Alabaster color would make a great choice here now that most aren't going for a stark white kitchen.
Alabaster doesn't lean strongly towards any one color and has both a yellow/beige (warm) and a touch of grey (cool) base. Put in more simple terms, it has a gray-beige undertone–also known as a “greige” undertone.
