Control of Verticillium Wilt
Verticillium wilt can't be cured once it enters the plant. It's best to remove and destroy small, easily replaced plants. The disease remains in the soil after you remove the plant, so don't plant another susceptible species in the same area.
Lack of light. If your plant is not getting enough sun it will wilt because it can't absorb enough light to feed itself. Solution: Try moving the plant somewhere a little brighter. Be gentle, so just shift it a little closer to a window.
Vegetables commonly and severely affected by Verticillium wilt include tomato, potato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber, muskmelon, pumpkin and watermelon.
When a plant is wilting, it is typically due to under watering, overwatering, or too much direct sunlight. If your plant is wilting, try giving it some water and see if it perks up. Sometimes it's as easy as that.

How to Control Verticillium Wilt: There is no effective treatment for verticillium wilt.
Groups of plants resistant to verticillium wilt include gymnosperms, monocots, members of the rose family, oaks, dogwoods, willows, rhododendrons, azaleas, and others. Symptoms of verticillium wilt vary somewhat in different host species and also within species due to varying environmental conditions.
Water your plants more regularly during the dry period and consider adding mulch to the base of stems to reduce water loss. Consider moving your plants to a shadier area or build shade netting over the plant during particularly hot periods.
A wilted plant can recover in a few weeks with the right care and attention to address the root cause of wilting. It is worth noting, however, that not every wilted plant has the stored energy to make a full recovery, and some plants can take months to look as they did originally.
Fungal and bacterial wilts display many of the same or similar symptoms of other plant diseases and disorders, making diagnosis sometimes difficult. However, the most prominent symptom in fungal wilts is xylem vascular discoloration and in bacterial wilts the presence of bacterial ooze, vascular discoloration and rot.
Once bacterial wilt infects a plant, there is no way to control the disease. The bacteria cannot transmit in seed, does not survive in soil, and only survives in plant debris for a short period.
Practice crop rotation: Verticillium wilt can persist in the soil for several years, so it's important to rotate crops and avoid planting susceptible plants in the same location for several years. For example, avoid planting tomatoes or potatoes in the same location for at least three years.
If fusarium wilt hits your garden, don't plant the same or related plant types in that area for at least four years. Depending on your climate, it may be possible to control fusarium wilt by "solarizing" your soil. This involves covering it with plastic so it reaches very high temperatures over a long period.
Tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, potatoes, dahlia, impatiens, and snapdragon are among the hosts of this disease. Plants weakened by root damage from drought, waterlogged soils, and other environmental stresses are thought to be more prone to infection.
The major differences in these wilts are: 1) The fungi proceed slowly in the host relative to bacteria and produce more uniform symptoms through the plant. 2) In bacterial wilt, symptoms appear from the top down, whereas in Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, symptoms begin at the bottom of the plant and progress upward.
Laboratory experiments have shown that to kill V. albo-atrum in hop bine fragments it is necessary to maintain a temperature of 40°C (104°F) for at least 7 days, 45°C (113°F) for 12 hours, 50°C (122°F) for three hours, or 60°C (140°F) for 15 minutes.
Management. There is no fungicide treatment available to control verticillium wilt. However, some other measures may be taken to prolong the life and to improve the aesthetic value of an infected tree. Management of this disease includes proper pruning, watering and fertilizing.
Verticillium wilt also causes discoloration of the vascular system almost identical to that in Fusarium wilt except that the browning does not extend quite as far up the stem. Thus, laboratory analysis may be required to distinguish between the two diseases.
The disease is favored by cool soil and air temperatures. Verticillium wilt is difficult to distinguish from Fusarium wilt and positive identification may require cultivating the fungus in a laboratory. Verticillium wilt seldom kills tomato plants but reduces their vigor and yield.
It is important to note that there is no cure for bacterial wilt, and infected plants will need to be removed and destroyed.

Root rot appears as reddish-brown to dark brown discolored roots and poor nodulation. Foliar symptoms of Fusarium wilt include scorching of the upper leaves, while middle and lower canopy leaves can turn chlorotic and later wither and drop from the plant.
