What is the required height for a fire alarm pull station? The simple answer that the operable part of the pull station needs to be at least 42 in. (1.07 m), and not more than 48 in. (1.22 m), above the finished floor.
Manual Pull Station Mounting Height
The NFPA 72 or the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code requires the manually operable part of the fire alarm system to be installed at a minimum height of 42 inches (1.07 m). The pull station height should not be more than 48 inches (1.22 m) from the finished floor.
NFPA 72 sets standards for the minimum and maximum mounting heights for fire alarm control units. The devices must be located between 1.5 and 5.5 feet above the finished floor to provide maximum accessibility.
Manual Call Points should be installed at a height of 1.4m above floor level at easily accessible, conspicuous positions, on exit routes, at the entry floor landings of staircases and at all exits to the open air.
The ideal TV mounting height should create a comfortable, immersive viewing experience. To achieve this, the center of the TV should be around eye level while viewers are seated or lying down. In many cases, this means a TV mounting height of 40 to 50 inches, measured from the floor to the center of the screen.
Most fire alarm bells should be mounted at heights that place their tops above the floor at a height of at least 90 inches, or 7 1/2 feet, leaving at least 6 inches between the ceiling and the bell.
Related to American standard NFPA 72, manual call points should be installed on height between 42 inches (1.07 m) and 48 inches (1.22 m), while their mutual distance shouldn't be over 200 feet (61 m). Also, this standard defines that manual call point must be far from exit door at least 1.5 m.

Manual Call Point Mounting Heights
In order to provide easy access, call points should be mounted between 1.2m and 1.6m from the floor, and should be clearly visible and identifiable.
A minimum of 36-inches clearance in front of the panel must be maintained from the floor to 6-feet, 6-inches above the panel, or to the top of the panel whichever is highest. A minimum of 30-inches clearance from side to side must be maintained in front of the panel.
Requirements for Fire Alarm Systems
The pull lever cannot require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. In addition, the pull lever should be within reach range or between 48 inches and 15 inches above the finish floor or ground.
The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires the top of breaker panels to be no more than 6'7″ high so people can reach operating handles easily in emergencies. Panels must have at least 3'6″ of clear space from the bottom to the floor, preventing blockages and ensuring easy access for maintenance or urgent shutoffs.
The bell should be mounted a minimum of 8 ft. from the floor or as close to the ceiling as possible.
NFPA 72 requires all fire alarm systems, including equipment used for monitoring, to have 24 hours of backup power. If an IP communicator is used for monitoring, the internet equipment must be connected to a backup power supply capable of providing power for a minimum of 24 hours.
