As for the least preferred colors, yellow is mentioned in eight studies, while orange and green-yellow are mentioned in five studies each. Thus, the most attractive color is blue, the second most preferred is red, followed by green, while yellow was found to be the least preferred color (Figure 1).
Pantone 448 C is a colour in the Pantone colour system. Described as a "drab dark brown" and informally dubbed the "ugliest colour in the world", it was selected in 2012 as the colour for plain tobacco and cigarette packaging in Australia, after market researchers determined that it was the least attractive colour.
There were two standout no-nos for first dates and interviews: orange and brown. We don't need to delve into the negative connotations brown can conjure up, but even we were surprised at the brown smear: only 2% of women and 8% of men (5% overall) would wear brown on a key appointment.
The most unpopular color for men is brown. The most unpopular color for women is orange. This data should only be used as an initial starting point if it is going to be used to drive a design. Testing and collecting your own data is the only surefire way to know what colors work best for your audience.
Choose light colors: Wearing light colors that reflect the sun's rays rather than absorb them (as dark colors can) helps keep you cool. Look for shirts, shorts, pants and hats in white, tan or khaki.
Sidhu and colleagues found that black and red clothing produced the highest ratings of body attractiveness and slimmer body size judgments. In contrast, grey and green clothes produced the lowest body attractiveness and highest body size assessments.
1. White. It's no surprise white came up as the color that stayed the coolest from the results. Temperature readings showed the surfaces of the white shirts wavered around 86 degrees Fahrenheit, which is considerably low compared to the 122 degrees Fahrenheit of the dark green shirts.
Another experiment featured a man in a color photo, dressed in either a red or a green shirt. A pool of 55 women rated the man in red as significantly more attractive -- on average, nearly one point higher on the same nine-point scale.
Blue Reigns Supreme
Both males and females like the color blue, which receives favor with 35% of female respondents and more than HALF of the male respondents.
According to a study called “Shades of beauty,” light brown skin tones are often the most physically attractive skin color (Frisby et al., 2006). They used four models for that study. They did not change the skin tone, but they imaged each model to three different skin tones: light, medium, and dark.
In the daylight, the most visible color is a wavelength of 550nm; a color between green and yellow. Our eyes catch red, orange, and yellow the fastest.
There are three main types of “impossible” colors: Forbidden colors. These are colors our eyes simply cannot process because of the antagonistic way our cones work, for instance “red-green” or “yellow-blue.”
A total of 31 colors were presented in 465 pairs, and their result shows that there was a general preference for red, blue, and violet-blue with a dislike for green-yellow and black.
In relation to food: Blue is actually known to suppress appetite and reduces hunger. Simply put: the most unappetizing colour.

Men usually perceive yellow as a very lighthearted, 'childish' color, so it is not recommended to use yellow when selling prestigious, expensive products to men—nobody will buy a yellow business suit or a yellow Mercedes.
Of those four, green is the rarest, showing up in about 9% of Americans but only 2% of the world's population. Hazel/amber is the next rarest color after green. Blue is the second most common and brown tops the list, found in 45% of the U.S. population and possibly almost 80% worldwide.
A new YouGov survey of more than 15,000 US adults shows that January is the most disliked month.
Given the above, red, black, and copper/bronze would seem to head the list of the most sexually attractive colours. Research shows that colour affects shopping habits. Red-orange, black, and royal blue attracts impulse buyers.
Red emits an energy that is bright as well as powerful and is the best color to attract money. It symbolizes life and emits a huge amount of energy. According to Feng Shui, red is a versatile color.
Red is, of course, the colour of love. In Feng Shui, red represents fire and passion. Symbolic of one of the strongest elements in nature, it should be used with great care.
Black. Black absorbed 86 percent of infrared, and the most heat. In five minutes it finished 60 degrees hotter than white—but damn if it doesn't look cool.
