It states that if the visual alarm is positioned too low it may not be seen, and recommends 2.1m as the minimum mounting height, but most applications would be higher than this. The British Standard also recommends that Fire Alarm Beacons aren't positioned any closer than 150mm from the ceiling.
INSTALLATION: 1. The bell should be mounted a minimum of 8 ft.
Non-Sleeping Area Requirements
Here, NFPA 72 height requirements are strobes must be installed 80 to 96 inches above the finished floor and 6 inches from the ceiling. Ceiling-mounted strobes are permitted on ceilings that are no higher than 30 feet.
A correctly orientated plan of the building must be displayed close to the control panel showing entrances, escape routes and zones. Fire alarm panels (standard Kentec) with LCD display should be mounted such that the top of the panel is at 1.65 metres +/- 0.1 metres above floor level.
NFPA 72 sets standards for the minimum and maximum mounting heights for fire alarm control units. The devices must be located between 1.5 and 5.5 feet above the finished floor to provide maximum accessibility. The recently revised standards make elevator recall and evacuation operations more specific.

The standard height for an alarm system keypad is probably around 4.5 feet high. However, anywhere from 4 to 5 feet up is usually okay.

The simple answer that the operable part of the pull station needs to be at least 42 in. (1.07 m), and not more than 48 in. (1.22 m), above the finished floor.
