Rain Bird High Performance Sprinklers are built rugged to withstand the harsh conditions in agricultural applications. With flow rates ranging from 0.28 to 6.82 gpm (62 to 1,549 l/h), these sprinklers deliver precise, uniform and unrivaled water distribution.
Typical sprinkler flow rates may vary from 4 gallons per minute (gpm) from a 5/32-inch nozzle at 30 pounds pressure to over 11 gpm from a 7/32-inch nozzle at 70 pounds pressure. The nozzle size is usually stamped on the nozzle.
Rainbird 1800 Pop-Up Spray Head Sprinkler, 2.6 - 3.7 gpm, 1/2 in FNPT, 2 in Pop Up.
For example, at 35 pounds per square inch (PSI) the 5000 Series Rotor using the 3.0 nozzle will use 3.11 gallons per minute (GPM).
5000 Plus PRS features a green cover while the 5000 PRS features a black cover. The 5000 Plus PRS features a Flow Shut-Off device to stop the flow of water to a particular head while the system is still in operation. Note: Pop-up height measured from cover to the nozzle. Overall body height is measured popped down.
The 5000 series (5004 = 4") is the exact same thing as the 42SA, without the fancy label, however the advantage is that the 5004's are not pre-loaded with a #3 nozzle, they come with a full 12 piece nozzle rack instead which makes it much more versatile.

A typical sprinkler used for industrial manufacturing occupancies discharge about 75-150 litres/min (20-40 US gallons/min). However, a typical Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinkler at a pressure of 50 psi (340 kPa) will discharge approximately 380 litres per minute (100 US gal/min).
The number of sprinklers needed is based on the size of each room; in residential systems the goal is to spray at least 0.05 gallons of water per minute per square foot of floor area. Coverage per head ranges from a low of 12 feet by 12 feet to a high of 20 feet by 20 feet.
If your flow rate is less than 10 litres per minute, you may have what is considered low water pressure. Anywhere between 10 and 15 litres per minute is acceptable but can be improved. A flow above 15 litres per minute is considered good.
You can operate 2 or 3 sprinklers at one time with 'Y's and extra hoses, depending on your water pressure. To run more than one sprinkler off the same faucet, attach a 'Y' to your faucet and run a hose to each sprinkler.
A watering session should be long enough to soak the area sufficiently so all the roots receive a beneficial drink. Sprinklers should be set to run for about 30 to 35 minutes at a time twice a week. Your goal is at least 1″ of water a week for your lawn.
Or, if you prefer, simply leave the irrigation design up to an installation professional, so you can be guaranteed head-to-head coverage. Typically, though, a sprinkler system zone will boast 5 to 6 rotor heads and/or 8 to 10 spray heads.
Generally, spray heads use about 0.75 gpm for ¼-circle, 1.5 gpm for ½ circle, and 3.0 gpm for full-circle heads. "Rotor" style heads use 2 to 5 gpm each, for most residential applications.
The typical residential water flow rate for small households is between 6-12 gallons per minute, so unless you plan to add extra kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry rooms to your home in the future, your home will never need to exceed that final GPM, assuming your flow rate is already normal.
Rain Bird's High Flow Inline Pressure Regulator family provides a wide flow range coverage (0.5-70 gpm) while delivering reliable pre-set regulation to protect and maximize the performance of most irrigation installations. Available in 40 and 50 psi versions.
The standard sprinkler flow rates, in general, are from 4 gallons per minute (gpm) from a 5/32-inch nozzle at 30 pounds pressures to over 11 gpm from a 7/32-inch nozzle at 70 pounds pressures.
Hunter products are slightly more durable than Rainbird. They can handle a greater PSI which is important when it comes to water pressure, winterization and extreme weather. Sprinkler heads sit in the ground which experience extreme temperatures.
Rain Bird 5000 Series Rotors are ideal for medium to large-size lawns and evenly distribute water from 25 to 50 feet.
