On average, semi-gloss oil-based paint is the most durable finish for kitchen cabinets. Because of its sheen, semi-gloss paint can reflect light and remain durable for a long time.
Your cabinets don't even need to be emptied either since you apply the vinyl right on top of the existing doors. You don't have to replace anything. The job is self-explanatory and straightforward enough that you can usually do it yourself, without the help of any installation professionals.
How long does vinyl kitchen wrap last? As long as you choose a reputable company and pay for a professional installation, expect your kitchen door wrapping to last up to 10 years. Vinyl is highly durable and damage-resistant, which is why it's such a popular investment.
It is possible to remove the foil wrap from kitchen cabinet doors, which is handy if you want to refinish your kitchen cabinets by painting them.
While there are many types of paint to choose from, the best paint for kitchen cabinets is typically semi-gloss, gloss or satin. Matte is not practical in kitchens and baths where you will need durable paint you can easily clean.
Many professionals now use latex paint, citing the improvements to the formula and the as-good-as finish they can get on most surfaces. We actually prefer a third type of paint for cabinets, the hybrid enamel.

Brushing allows the painters to apply the color directly to the surface of the cabinets, only wasting the small amount left on their brushes at the end of the project. Spraying atomizes the paint, meaning some of the droplets inevitably float away, and any paint left in the tubing of the sprayer goes to waste.
For wood, brushing is fine, but you may want to hire a professional for a good finish. Using a roller to paint cabinets is a lot faster than brush painting, however, the fabric on the roller will create a 'bobbly' texture on the surface. The texture a roller puts on cabinets makes it unsuitable for gloss paint.
Rollers are not as consistent. The paint is applied unevenly. So, if you want a factory-grade finish, choose to spray your kitchen cabinets instead of rolling them. In addition to providing a higher-quality final finish, spray painting is faster than using a roller.
Since glossy finishes are the quickest to show scratches and stains, matte finishes are ideal for those who want to hide their furniture's imperfections. On the other hand, cabinets with a matte finish absorb light instead of reflecting it. As a result, this finish will not help your space feel bigger.
Since most lighting tends to highlight the upper cabinets, use acrylic finishes on them for a glossy, attractive look. Laminate is a good choice for lower cabinets since they are likely to see more wear and tear. You can choose textures and colours that complement each other for a coordinated look.
While satin finishes tend to be fairly durable in high traffic areas, they're not as durable and versatile as semi-gloss against mildew and mold. Kitchen cabinets in high moisture environments can, therefore, do better with semi-gloss paints.
Painting over the vinyl will cause the thinners to penetrate through and will only speed up the peeling process. We do not suggest painting over vinyl wrapped doors. We can't take the vinyl off until it starts to peel. If we try, it can in fact potentially ruin the door.
You need to use special paint when painting vinyl cabinets. If your vinyl or laminate covered particleboard cabinets are peeling, you may want to consider giving them a fresh coat of paint.
Some bathroom and kitchen cabinets are covered with melamine coating, a type of plastic that can separate from the underlying surface over time. If the melamine coating has only come loose in a few areas, you can reattach it using an instant adhesive, such as Super Glue or Krazy Glue.
