7.2 High-pressure piping systems
Because of this ambiguity and based on interactions with various industries, it is the author's opinion that a high-pressure line typically operates in the vicinity of 1400–2200 psi. A better way to categorize a line would be by using the hoop stress and a desired factor of safety.
The ideal water pressure level is between 50-70 PSI.
If your water pressure goes above 70 PSI (even occasionally), you should install a pressure regulator to your main water line.
Normal water pressure range

In most cases, if an instrument is labeled high pressure, its range most likely spans above 6,000 to 10,000 psi.
But you shouldn't go too much over recommended PSI. You can safely over-inflate tires by up to 10%. For example, if your tires have a recommended PSI of 35, you can go up to around 38 PSI without worry. Anything more than that is too much and not recommended.

Signs of High Residential Water Pressure
Most times, your focus is on the water's temperature and pressure. Having high water pressure might seem like a good thing. However, with most fixtures only able to handle a maximum of 80 pounds per square inch (PSI), too much pressure can be detrimental to your plumbing system.
The most common way of specifying pipe pressure temperature rating is given by ASME 16.5, using pound ratings (or lb ratings) – #150, #300, #400, #600, #900, #1500 and #2500. The pressure rating or pound rating for a pipe is determined using the design pressure and design temperature for the pipe.
