WD-40 and PB Blaster were designed to do different things. WD-40 dries and degreases... it's mean to coat metals so that they resist corrosion, not break nuts free with. PB Blaster is a purpose built penetrating fluid that eats away at corrosion to break the surface tension between two rusty parts.
jtl Schaeffer Penetro 90 is hands down the best I have used. Kroil and PB work but penetro is amazing. I have been a Plant Engineer for 36 years and I have tried most.
Vegetable Oil
This pantry staple is another lubricant alternative to WD-40 that can be easily applied without having to purchase another product. Mostly any cooking oil can be used, and vegetable oil has the added perk of being safe to use on most surfaces, including metal and plastic.
Any oil is better than no oil, but PB Blaster is primarily a penetrate for loosening corroded or rusted fasteners. There are special oils available just for cutting and they do work really well. They are heavier than penetrating oils and they cling better.
CASTOR OIL
is able to penetrate more deeply than any other plant oil so it draws out dirt and impurities from deep within your pores. It's quite a thick oil and shouldn't be used alone however when mixed with other thinner oils it makes the best oil cleanser possible.

Penetrating Oil Spray Ingredients
As great as those new products are, occasionally you can get by with a home brew—a 50/50 mixture of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. No chemistry is required to make this solution: just pour it into a spray bottle and you're good to go.
